New Resident Evil Movie

With the announcement of a new Resident Evil movie being directed by Zach Cregger, I wanted to go back and visit the older movies that people do not necessarily enjoy as fans of the games. Personally, I think the trilogy of films directed by Paul W.S. Anderson try to just use names of things from the games to try and relate back to them in some sense, despite not being canon to the games. I think they are fun films to watch but don't really resonate a ton with RE game fans. Same with Welcome to Racoon City directed by Johannes Roberts in 2021, they kinda just put them in the same setting and used characters from the games, but took a lot of creative liberties with it. The new movie in my opinion looks promising. It will be taking place within the game universe, but not directly relating to the characters from the games. Its looking like it will lean heavily into the horror aspect. Its a breath of fresh air for Resident Evil movies/series and I am all for it. I will be going to see it in theatres so I will give my final verdict afterwards.
