Grand Theft AutoSan Andreas deserves to be remembered as one of the greatest games of its generation because, back in 2004, it felt like more than just a game it felt like an entire world you could get lost in. From following CJ’s unforgettable journey to exploring three massive cities, customizing your character, hitting the gym, driving almost anything you could find, and discovering endless side activities, San Andreas gave players a level of freedom that was incredible for its time. Add in the legendary soundtrack, memorable characters, hilarious moments, and an open world packed with personality, and you had an experience that was way ahead of its era. Plenty of games have gotten bigger and more realistic since then, but few have captured that same sense of freedom and adventure.
