While flash has surpassed the speed of light and sound and even time traveled, sonic has never (to my knowledge) time traveled or even went to a different multiverse just with his speed, Sonic has only faced against those who can run faster than him or has faced eggman who is nowhere near fast as him, he can't really be pushed to his limit when his competition is only his base speed, the flash has faced reverse flash someone who can match his speed and traumatize him for years and years and other villains who can neutralize his speed yet barry is faster because his thought process has to be fast enough to make a decision critically, while a sonic fan sonic doesn't really think critically like most heroes like batman or flash would but think in the sense of those who are important to me need to be protected no matter what because my friends mean a lot to me
