I’m not a creator, critic, or industry insider. Just a regular guy in my 40s who found his way back into comics, and honestly, I didn’t expect how much they’d stick.

I grew up around comics like a lot of people did, but somewhere along the way they fell off my radar. Then a few years ago, I picked one up again, mostly because of the cover, and that was it. The art pulled me back in first. The stories kept me there.

These days, I collect for the same reasons I did when I was younger, just with a bit more appreciation. I’m drawn to strong visual storytelling, unique art styles, and books that feel like they’re doing something a little different. I’m not chasing flips or trying to turn this into a side hustle. I buy what I like, I keep what I enjoy, and I revisit the books that stay with me.

I make a point to get out to the Calgary Expo every year. That’s probably the highlight of the hobby for me. Seeing original art, meeting creators, and just being around people who are into the same things for their own reasons. It’s a good reminder that comics aren’t just products, they’re experiences.

Most of what I share comes from that perspective. I’m not trying to predict markets or tell anyone what to buy. I’m just paying attention to what stands out, what holds up, and what feels worth remembering a few days, months or even years later.

Comics are better right now than a lot of people realize. The art is sharper, the storytelling is more varied, and there’s something out there for just about everyone.

I’m just here because I think that’s worth talking about.
