Teaser and details for the next Sonic game

Featured Replies

Hello Ben,

I'm a big fan of your work at ComicBook.com, and I wanted to share a fan concept for the next mainline Sonic game.

I've been thinking about what would make a great follow-up to Sonic Frontiers. My idea is Sonic Horizons, a sequel where Sonic is transported to another dimension, similar to what Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart did.

Here’s the main concept:

A new hedgehog character with crimson fur and electric powers saves Sonic from an attack. This new character could look up to Sonic as a father figure. I imagine him having a unique design—like a red vest and red and yellow sneakers—to set him apart from characters like Sonic, Shadow, and Silver.

The game could feature large, open zones and multiple playable characters, possibly including some from the IDW comics, and would release on all major platforms (PS5, Xbox, Switch, and PC) in late 2026.

I believe a game like this would be a fantastic evolution of the open-zone formula and a great way to introduce a new generation of characters.

Thanks for your time and for all the great coverage!

Best,

A dedicated Sonic Fan
