December 9, 2025Dec 9 CB Team So, recently, it was announced a "newly restored" version of the theatrical cut of Star Wars will be shown in theaters for the 50th anniversary screenings. That's exciting. It's cool to see Lucasfilm embrace the theatrical cut after years of casting it aside, so I'm wondering, do you think this is a sign there are plans to give the unaltered trilogy a release on home media? Or is this just a special thing for the 50th anniversary re-release.As a 1990 baby, I grew up with the special editions (that was how I saw Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi for the first time), but I think it would be cool if the unaltered editions got a proper wide release. I know the special editions are what's considered canon, but if we can have 5 cuts of Blade Runner on Blu-ray, there's no reason why we can't have multiple versions of Star Wars.
