I'm writing as a long-time Sonic the Hedgehog fan to share some predictions and hopes for the next mainline game. I'm energized by the direction Sega has been taking, focusing on new experiences rather than remakes of the Adventure titles.

My ultimate wish list for the next game focuses on expanding the scope and roster:

• Multiple Playable Characters: The return to a multi-character format would be fantastic, offering varied gameplay and storytelling perspectives.

• New Playable Character: A brand new Future/Teen Gohan-like hedgehog would be a thrilling addition. For voice casting, I think it would be incredible to have Miyu Irino (Japanese) and Johnny Yong Bosch (English) bring this character to life.

• More Interesting Worlds: Building on the success of Starfall Islands, I hope to see a return to beloved locations like Station Square, alongside new, richly detailed zones.

• Super Sonic Evolution: I'd love to see a permanent evolution of the classic form: Super Sonic 2. This form should feature a new, exciting transformation method, separate from any cyber corruption elements, alongside a brand new transformation inspired by Super Saiyan 3 for the ultimate power-up.

I believe these elements—a diverse cast, deep lore, and powerful new transformations—would make for a truly next-generation Sonic experience.

Yeah, these are good ideas. I feel like Sega needs to take Sonic the Hedgehog to the next level to match its Hollywood success. I think you will always want your old-school Sonic games in the pipeline, but I think it's time Sega really attempts to take the series to the next level with a substantial AAA budget and resources.
