October 22, 2025Oct 22 !!!!Spoilers Ahead!!!!Are we on a streak or what? First, it was the Peacemaker finale that felt dull, and now it's Gen V too.It was a mixed season overall with lower rankings compared to the first season, and even the director said the plan for season 3 heavily depends on audience reaction. I bet he said that after editing the last episode. It Was At This Moment He Knew... He Fucked Up.So much anticipation was built around the main villain, Godolkin, Sister Sage's plan, Polarity and Cate's sacrifice, Marie's self-doubt, and at the end, we got bundled up chaos with lazy writing to tie things up. Let's discuss The Good, The Bad, and The Future! The Good:The last scene was quite nice to build up excitement for The Boys' next season.Harper (the girl who can mimic any power for 60 seconds): She was never very confident about herself, but in an earlier episode, we see her using Emma's shape-shifting power better than her. They used this character nicely. She can use anyone's power at its full potential for 60 seconds. A seemingly useless character turned the tide and saved a dozen lives.I literally stared at my screen for 10 minutes and couldn't come up with anything more that I liked about the finale. The Bad:Such a powerful villain killed like a piñata. I mean, he is the father of Supes, give him some respect. Use the character; it has so much potential.Sister Sage is getting tricked. Are you kidding me? She is the most intelligent and calculative human on the planet. If they don't say she always knew Godolkin would fuck up, then it was really bad writing. Hope we get answers in The Boys.Emma controls her powers just like that. The whole theme of the season was that pressure builds strength, and then you just show a character evolve without putting visible pressure on them. I expected more brutal action from the finale. There was more yapping, a normal amount of action, and that too wasn't good enough to pump up your adrenaline. The Future:A lot of things are left out for The Boys. Godolkin came back, tortured the kids, and died. Students will tell their story, and a tide will rise against the Homelander dictatorship and N@z! mentality. We are going to see a lot of Gen V characters in The Boys' last season. Expect them to use their power much more efficiently and effectively as a team. We got a glimpse of it in the Gen V finale. There are many more things going on in my mind, but I would like to hear your take on it. Did you like this Season, are you excited for The Boys?
October 22, 2025Oct 22 It is a tough pill to swallow that Godolkin comes and goes so fast, but I do think the character stuff this season works really well. Seeing Marie and Annabeth reunite was great, and I think it was mature of Jordan to break things off with Marie. I think all this The Boys set up will be done after Season 5 of that show, and Season 3 will take all the characters in a positive direction. Just my two cents!
October 23, 2025Oct 23 I actually thought it was quite a good final; sure Godolkin got exploded, BUT he's never been the larger villain in play, and if they really wanted to, there's still a chance Marie can restore him.Regarding Emma, I'd argue here that she did use her powers under duress; her friends lives' were at stake. And with regard to Page, even the most intelligent and calculated people can make mistakes; I figure it was her emotional connection to Godolkin that clouded her powers somewhat. Arguably emotions are the strongest power of them all.

That's why she lobotomized herself to be with Deep, but allowed herself to be vulnerable in front of Godolkin. He even said that it was a turn-off. Maybe at that point, he decided to go on his own path. Perhaps emotions are her weakness.I will also say that on paper, the saving friend's lives angle works for Emma, but on screen, they failed to show the intensity of it. It seems they wanted to tell us that Emma now has control over her powers, but it didn't land in the best way. Another way of seeing it can be, it was Godolkin's idea that pressure evolves you, but in reality, it's genuine care and the feeling of responsibility that evolves you. It makes more sense this way. Also draws parallels with how Marie resurrected Annabeth.Godolkin was the main villain for the season. For the overall universe, it may be Homelander or the idea of controlling people. Anyway, I wanted to see more of Godolkin. We will get that in Vought Rising, but he will be without powers there. I am excited about exploring the roots of that character, as well as more of Soldier Boy.

I'd argue it's both one and the same, similar in part with Sage.Sage's power is knowledge and calculations. Her weakness, emotions. In the same breath it's the emotions of our teenagers that allow them a power increase; the more emotional they are, the more their powers are effected by it. If there's genuine pressure, then their abilities have been heightened, but also if there's genuine care. It's ultimately all down to emotions at this point.Homelander seems like he'll be the main big bad, but once the Boys S5 wraps, I'm not seeing him still flying about, so if Gen V gets a 3rd season, we're going to need bigger stakes, and I'm concerned that you can't really top Vought and/or Homelander.
