What Comic Book Character Has Never Gotten the Movie They Deserve?

There are plenty of comic book characters who have been given multiple chances on the big screen. Batman, Spider-Man and Superman have been reinvented over and over again. But some major characters still haven't gotten a movie that really shows what makes them great.

For me, Gambit is near the top of that list.

We've seen Gambit on the big screen, and I've enjoyed finally seeing Channing Tatum get his chance with the character. But I still don't think we've gotten the Gambit movie I've always wanted.

There's a lot more to explore with him than simply being part of the X-Men. His Louisiana background, the Thieves Guild, his relationship with Rogue and his history before joining the X-Men could easily carry a movie of their own. I'd especially like to see a Gambit story that actually embraces New Orleans and the Louisiana side of the character rather than treating it as little more than an accent and a few references.

And Gambit definitely isn't the only character in this situation. There are plenty of Marvel and DC characters who have either been poorly adapted, stuck in supporting roles, or never given a real opportunity at all.
