Marvel vs. DC: Who Has the Better Stories and Characters?

This debate has been going on forever, but I'm curious what everyone thinks when it comes to the actual comics. Which publisher do you think has the better storytelling and more developed characters, Marvel or DC?

And rather than just picking a side, I'd love to hear some examples. What specific comic runs, storylines, or character arcs make you think one does it better than the other?

Or do you think both have their strengths in different areas?

I definitely think both of them have their strengths. Heck, I even think that the independent publishers have their own strengths as well.
