Marvel's New Midnight Universe: Fantastic Four, Spider-Man & X-Men Go Full Horror

I just finished reading the first issues of all three of Marvel's new Midnight Universe comics, and I have to say, I'm really enjoying what they're doing so far. Each series takes familiar Marvel characters and reimagines them through a different style of horror, and I think there's a lot of potential here.

Midnight Fantastic Four #1 (Benjamin Percy and Kev Walker)

This one has a strong Lovecraftian, cosmic horror vibe, which I absolutely love. The Fantastic Four have always been about exploration and discovering the unknown, so turning that concept into something terrifying works surprisingly well. There's a real sense that they're dealing with forces beyond human understanding.

Midnight Spider-Man #1 (Phillip Kennedy Johnson and ScieTronc)

Spider-Man takes things in a completely different direction with some genuinely disturbing body horror. Peter Parker's transformation has always been a major part of his origin, but this version really leans into the monstrous possibilities of those powers. I think the horror elements work extremely well here.

Midnight X-Men #1 (Jonathan Hickman and Matteo Della Fonte)

This one is shaping up to be a really interesting vampire story. I've always enjoyed supernatural horror, and combining that with the X-Men opens up some fascinating possibilities. It feels like there's a much larger mythology waiting to unfold.

What I like most is that each book explores a different kind of horror rather than simply making the characters darker. Fantastic Four gives us cosmic horror, Spider-Man delivers body horror, and X-Men brings vampires and the supernatural into the mix.

It's still early, but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where this universe goes.

Has anyone else picked these up? Which of the three is your favorite so far?

I hate horror. Please post a different thread like What do you want for Pokemon Day in February 2027?.

Fair enough! I know horror isn't everyone's thing. Pokémon Day 2027 sounds like a good topic, so I'll get a thread going for that too!

You blue hearted my comment on your Pokemon Day 2027 thread? Will the fans comment on it too?
