Highlighting Sega's Bold New Direction with Sonic - No Sonic Adventure Remakes, just new experiences and new characters

Featured Replies

Dear ComicBook.com,

We appreciate your recent reporting on Takashi Iizuka’s view that remaking Sonic Adventure would require the same effort as creating a brand new game. Rather than calling for a remake, we hope to respectfully and concisely encourage an article discussing a spiritual successor that captures the cinematic, multi-character DNA of the Adventure series.

This approach—using the resources for a fresh, complex, new experience—aligns perfectly with Sega’s current strategy of reimagining its classic IPs.

To help drive this new direction, we suggest expanding the cast with two original heroes, proposed here as suggestions, not fan creations:

  1. A new hero inspired by Teen Gohan/Goten, an electric crimson hedgehog with yellow electricity who specializes in chaotic, overcharged speed. (Suggested voice talent: Miyu Irino (Sora) and Johnny Yong Bosch (Ichigo Kurosaki)).

  2. A new female sidekick inspired by the spirit of Goten and Lola Bunny’s 90s confidence, utilizing a fast martial arts combat style reminiscent of Chun-Li. (Suggested voice talent: Haruka Tomatsu (Asuna) and Erica Lindbeck(Futaba Sakura)).

We are respectfully mindful that new characters and voices add to the depth of a new game. An article exploring this positive, forward-thinking possibility would greatly help the fanbase support Sega in creating its next generation of unique Sonic experiences. Remember, I’m not creating fan characters anymore, but a fan suggestion for the experiences.

I definitely like the idea of moving away from straightforward remakes and instead doing something new like this, instead. Great idea!

I think the new female character will be a crimson hedgehog’s 15-year old sister and she is younger than him. She is a hedgehog too.

I think the new female hedgehog would be blonde, wears clothes inspired by Lola bunny’s in 90s and she would wear red lipstick.
