When Harry received his Dad’s cloak at Christmas; the note was unsigned. We have surmised that this came from Dumbledore. Right??? My question is how did James acquire it???

I always forget that the Potter family is really influential in the Wizarding World. James got it from his parents, who got it from theirs. Since Harry is alone for most of the story, the movies gloss over all of that, even when they talk about the Deathly Hallows.

If I recall it started with some dude named Ignotus Peverell or something similar and has been a Potter family heirloom.

It's a family heirloom that also emphasizes how elitist of a family the Potters were before the whole Voldemort thing haha
