Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is absolute garbaggio, and a huge part of the reason why is the script written by the game's original creator Scott Cawthon. It's so bloated and weighed down by the game's lore that it forgets to be an actual movie. It's why these adaptations need people who actually know what they're doing to handle things instead.

I get WHY they let Cawthon have so much control over this franchise, but you're right. Is it really that hard to find someone with actual narrative experience to help out?

Writing for movies is a different skill from writing for games. It's nice to keep the creator in the loop, but hiring someone who understands what they are doing is also paramount.
