February 20Feb 20 Finally, one of the gals gets to be a horrifying monster! The story is kinda dumb with the "mix all the DNA together" excuse, but that's the average for Absolute Batman. It's still incredibly cool to see Batman wielding double chainshaws and a flamethrower. How did you like this week's issue?

How did you like this week's issue? As someone who is casually interested in modern science concerning gene-splicing, recombinant DNA, and naturalistic cures and treatments, this was delicious nightmare fuel. Also, making Poison Ivy into John Carpenter's The Thing - by whatever means - is a wild twist. I loved it. Can wait for the full boss battle. Also: How do we not make mention of Chainsaw (Bat)man?
February 21Feb 21 While I don't understand the monster-fication of everything in the Absolute Universe, I have to say this design is pretty rad.

Yeah, the Chainsaw Man vibe is a nice touch!

He's a massive horror enthusiast and is constantly exploring horror outside DC. Since he seems to have had carte blanche for Absolute, I think he just decided to make Batman into a horror-tinged comic book. I like it, I think it fits a hero who classically uses fear as a weapon. Now I'm really curious about Scarecrow.

I just also know that Scott has the ability to write some really thoughtful non-horror stories and would love love love love love to see what he could do with a Batman-centric story in a new setting within that sort of framework.

Hopefully, the success of Absolute allows him to explore other takes on the DC universe.
