Which comic character has the best origin story?

Featured Replies

Probably a common one, but Spiderman’s origin story has to be my favorite. From the random spider bite to the loss of Uncle Ben, Peter Parker’s journey to becoming Spiderman was the first and best one I read as a kid.

I agree! His origin story will always be one of the best out there. Always been my favorite.

The Vision. I mean, what origin is more hype than a synthezoid hero created by Ultron using a duplicate of the original Human Torch’s body, remodeled by Phineas T. Horton, infused with Wonder Man’s brain patterns, and later animated by the Mind Stone (an Infinity Stone).

In manga ... Jujutsu Kaisen's Yuji Itadori's origin: - (a hero conceived by a brain-swappping villain who purposefully replaced the brain of Yuji's mother with his own, so that he could occupy her body and conceive Yuji with his father to pass on to Yuji, his special abilities) is so bizarre - it's great.

Good choice! I hadn't thought of the Vision, my brain always goes to Spider-Man when thinking about origin stories : ) I haven't read much manga, but that sounds interesting

I think there are really three standouts in superhero comics: Spider-Man, Superman, and Batman. For me, Superman's and Batman's are actually the more well-structured, because the origins shape them so much. Realistically, that spider could've bitten Jessica Jones as easily as it bit Peter Parker :P
