April 6Apr 6 Hey everyone,I've been into comics and manga for a few years now, but I haven't read a lot of I Superman. I've read stories such as Superman For All Seasons and DWJ's Superman Red & Blue short story (personally love them both), but that's pretty much it. With Superman going through a resurgence this past year or so (Absolute Superman, Superman Movie, Death of Superman art auction, etc). I was wondering what other people's favorite Superman stories or art is? I would love to hear from other folks!
April 8Apr 8 CB Team Those are both great Superman stories, and so excited that you're jumping into the character more! For me personally, the Death of Superman and then subsequently Reign of the Supermen were so influential in terms of my love of the character, so those are always up in my top-tier list.Another favorite is The Nail, which is a Justice League story but heavily revolves around Superman. Other favorites are Superman Smashes the Klan, Absolute Superman, and the Superman run that started with 2023's Superman #1 by Joshua Williamson and Jamal Campbell. One of the best Superman runs ever, and it's still going (and is still awesome). Edited April 8Apr 8 by MattAguilarCB
April 12Apr 12 Author Ooo, I've heard about the Nail (it's like a squarebound mini series, right?) and of Death and Reign of Superman stories are very popular (even though I haven't read them, I think most comic fans are familiar with those stories). Absolute Superman is another series that I plan to get into , for that I've been enjoying the Absolute Batman run so far (I've heard really good things about Absolute Martian too!). I haven't heard about the 2023 run though, so that's a run I'll have to add to my reading list!
April 12Apr 12 CB Team Yeah, I go back and read The Nail every so often, and I still love it. There's a sequel too if you end up loving the world. Here's the version I read, but think there's a newer TPB as well.
April 23Apr 23 The Nail is written and penciled by Alan Davis. You have a well written story with stunning art. It satisfieson so many levels. I personally recommend the Superman run by Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason.
