Peacemaker Season 2 Thoughts??

Featured Replies

Before we head into the weekend, I wanted to see what everybody thought about the Season 2 premiere of Peacemaker? I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but hopefully I get to it over the weekend. I hear there were some pretty big changes to certain Justice League scenes. 👀👀

I have a special connection to this show, so I'm biased. But I absolutely loved the first episode of Season 2. I think the core premise is great, as it forces Chris to reflect on his personal growth. He has an easy way out now, and he can have everything he ever wanted quite easily. So now he has to decide if he truly wants to become a better person or if that was a means to an end. It's a brilliant moral discussion that I'm excited to see unfold.

I've watched the last few episodes through screeners, and then I rewatch each episode weekly with my girlfriend. Last Friday, we watched Episode 3, and I was actually looking at her all the time to see if she picked up something strange. It's subtle enough for people to miss, and obvious enough to serve as foreshadowing. I absolutely love it!

Swear, I'm going to lose my blk card for taking this long to notice what's so shady about that "perfect" alt universe. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Devil’s advocate here…maybe white dragon did something? I don’t see this universe lasting a potential season 3 so there has to be some dark twist to make peacemaker ok with that right?

I like the idea of the "good world" turning out to be some crazy regressive universe - and Peacemaker only realizing that mid-way through.

One thing I think we can expect is to finally see imps in some form or fashion. whether it's Mxyzptlk, Bat Mite, or another random imp. The fact that they have been spoken about so much this season and were already established in superman, and the fact that bat mite is Gunn's favorite character its not hard to believe that imps could appear in some form by the end of the season. Not to mention in the pocket dimension is a door that we know opens to the 8th dimension where the imps are.

Is the 8th dimension ruled by a little monkeyman to balance out a potential 9th dimension ruled by a giant monkeyman?

That's the thing that is kind of genius about it: the implications of what it means that we DON'T immediately register that. Like Chris, we take it to be a "happy" or "perfect" world at face value... literally.

Man... Let's all do better!

I think if we were not all chronically online, the twist would hit way more people. Yeah, it's "obvious," but the fact that the series wants Chris to think it's a perfect universe also leads the audience to buy this lie, at least at first. James Gunn is far from perfect, and he has some writing vices I dislike (please, hold the exposition, my dude!). Still, he remains one of my favorite storytellers because you can see how he leaves nothing to chance and wants to actively decide what each minor element of his scripts means.
