  1. Arcane. Very forcefully recommended to me, but I keep getting distracted.
  2. The fact that Jean Grey is missing from the cast could perhaps be telling us something terrible. Also, this feels like a dying universe, and Cyclops taking one last enraged final stand fits what we know of the character. Also, what did you think of the teaser? Definitely the best so far, for me.
  3. I think there's a very good chance this will be the movie everyone chooses to be cynical about, and then goes to see anyway. Yes, nostalgia is low hanging fruit, but if you don't want to see more of Chris Evans' Steve Rogers, and you don't want to see RDJ's Doom, and you don't want to see how they'll fit so much story into a 3 hour run time AND set up Secret Wars, you all must be an entirely different species to me. I would watch Iron Man ride Hulk into battle, with cameos from every character in the MCU's history dead or alive with a grin on my face. And I loved Thunderbolts* - it's possible to be forward-looking and celebrate the past.
  4. By some quirk, I realised a few years ago that I had watched Event Horizon on Christmas Eve two years in a row, and now I have made it an annual event. Usually while frankly wrapping presents I should have done weeks ago. Something about the agony of Hell as a real concept seems to match that well...
  5. It's usually a quiet month, but there are some standouts in January: Dead Man's Wire - Gus Van Sant's crime thriller with Bill Skarsgard, Dacre Montgomery, Colman Domingo, and Al Pacino. 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple The Rip - Matt Damon and Ben Affleck reunited for Netflix's action thriller. Not a maths problem in sight. Greenland 2: Migration - Gerard Butler disaster sequel. The original was a lot better than it's given credit for. Anything else? Or is 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple the one everyone's going to spend their post-Christmas dollars on?
  6. Spider-Man’s Thanksgiving dinner does capture the spirit of family meals though. Strained relationships, near-murderous tension, world changing secrets threatening to tear loved ones apart…
  7. There's either a much better chance of this happening with the recent takeover, or much less. The move away from the Kelvin Timeline is some indication of being forward looking, but it doesn't necessarily mean Legacy won't happen. It has enough people behind it.
  8. Star Trek has never been sexless: Kirk's bedhopping with various multi-coloured aliens was a major part way back in the 1960s. If anything, the show has moved away from that more as time has gone on. So sexual prowess is actually in the genes of Star Trek, I'd say.
  9. Great performances are great performances: I'm primarily concerned with it being someone who has either done VO work, or can be directed to greatness. Casting actors without the experience based on name brand power doesn't always pan out. But I have faith in Meryl Streep if she's actually cast.
  10. Goldeneye was the one I spent the most time playing (and, in fact, continue to play on my N64). WWF No Mercy Mario Kart 64 I also spent a not inconsiderable amount of time playing Ridge Racer 64 and Tony Hawk's PS. Never any Legend of Zelda games: it's one franchise I have never actually liked, which I realize will get me hounded.
  11. Pokémon Pokopia is definitely going to be how I keep my Animal Crossing-loving son happy for a while. Also VERY excited about the Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
  12. With rumors that Chris Evans' Steve Rogers may be returning in the next Avengers movie, which of the OG Avengers (alive or dead) are you most hyped to see return - even if they aren't yet confirmed?
  13. Article Here: https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/best-most-underrated-sci-fi-tv-shows-series-the-expanse/ Is it a masterpiece? It's one I've been recommended a lot over the years, particularly as a sci-fi fan. I've now finally got started on it, and I'm blown away that it actually matches up to the hype.
  14. KPop Demon Hunters is a joy, and has way more full-quadrant appeal than the marketing (or weird lack of it) suggested from Netflix. It’s like Squid Game all over again, where they have so much to market that they can’t back things as they deserve. And the best song is Soda Pop. Obviously. Fight me
