  1. I think tobey.
  2. Dear ComicBook.com Team (and Amanda Kay Oaks), As a longtime reader of your anime coverage and a lifelong Pokémon fan, I’ve been thinking a lot about the franchise's legacy. With the original Indigo League era holding such a massive place in pop culture memory, there is always quiet chatter and hope among the fandom for a modern, high-budget remaster or remake of Ash’s original journey. If The Pokémon Company ever pursued a high-profile, unionized remake produced out of a major Los Angeles studio like Studiopolis, the casting potential is incredible. I wanted to share a fan-casting concept that focuses on replicating the exact spirit, energy, and vocal textures of the classic era while honoring the memory of the original actors (like Rachael Lillis, Maddie Blaustein and James Carter Cathcart a.k.a Jimmy Zoppi). I’d love to know if the team at ComicBook.com thinks a modern LA union cast could successfully capture that 1998 magic. Here is how the ultimate modern line-up could look: Ash Ketchum – Erica Mendez: Mendez has the perfect raspy, high-energy shonen protagonist tone (proven by her work as Gon Freecss). She could seamlessly replicate the classic, stubborn, yet wide-eyed determination originally established by Veronica Taylor. Misty – Kira Buckland: Buckland has the ideal range to balance Misty’s iconic short-tempered, fiery outbursts with her deeply caring, supportive side. Brock – Aleks Le: Le excels at switching between earnest mentorship and over-the-top, high-energy comedy—essential for Brock’s dramatic shifts whenever he falls in love. Jessie & James – Cristina Vee & Ben Diskin: This duo would be pure gold. Vee brings the theatrical, glamorous, and volatile villain energy needed for Jessie, while Diskin perfectly handles the melodramatic, sensitive, and flamboyant charm of James. Meowth – Keith Silverstein: Silverstein’s sharp comedic timing and ability to deliver a gritty, fast-talking character voice would pay excellent homage to the classic, Brooklyn-accented grit of the original Meowth. Professor Oak – Kirk Thornton: Thornton has the exact warm, authoritative, yet slightly eccentric grandfatherly presence required to welcome a new generation to the Pokémon world. Gary Oak – Max Mittelman: Mittelman specializes in arrogant, smug, yet undeniably charismatic rivals, making him the ultimate choice for Ash's primary motivation. Tracey Sketchit – Todd Haberkorn: Haberkorn’s earnest, friendly, and enthusiastic vocal quality matches the gentle nature of the Orange Islands Pokémon watcher perfectly. Given how much fans love looking back at the early days of Kanto, a deep dive into how a modern remake could sound feels right up ComicBook.com's alley. Thank you for always keeping the community updated on the best anime news, and I’d love to see an article or discussion on what a reimagined classic Pokémon series might look like today! I hope they don’t replace Horizons and the ongoing main series. Hope for the Pokemon Company and Studiopolis. Best regards, Comicbookfan101

  4. Hello, trainers. I think more Pokemon 30th Anniversary stuff is delayed to 2027. Here’s the source: https://x.com/CentroLeaks/status/2067684020146573375?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet Here’s the Wishlist for more stuff for 2027: Pokemon Winds and Waves info. Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver on Switch. Pokemon Indigo League to Master Quest 30th Anniversary box set (possibly a rewrite and redubbed by Studiopolis, like in Sonic X Shadow Generations and Persona 4 Revival.) Black and White Remakes Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald on the Switch. What do you think of the wishlist? Let me know if it’s ok.
  5. Hi, everyone. I have a question for all of you. What voice actors do you want to see for Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man on Disney+? Let me know wat you want.
  6. It’s the best.
  7. Hi, trainers. I want to ask you why do I want a classic Pokemon anime redubbed by Studiopolis? Let me know if you answer my question.

  10. Hi, Sonic fans. With Takashi Iizuka officially confirming that a 3rd year of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is a strong possibility, the speculation train has officially left the station! If SEGA is planning to keep the momentum going, I’d love to see them lean into both their classic catalogue and some massive guest collaborations. Here are my top predictions for a dream Year 3 lineup: * The SEGA Classics Pack: It’s time for some love for the older gems. Ristar feels like a perfect fit for a high-speed racer, and Joe Musashi (Shinobi) would bring such a cool, tactical aesthetic to the track. * The Brawler Pack: Adding the cast of Streets of Rage (Axel, Blaze, etc.) would be amazing. Their karts could easily be based on the iconic urban settings of the games. * The "Big Crossover" Pack: If they really want to go all out, why not branch out? A DC Comics collaboration and even Power Rangers would be huge draws for the casual audience and would instantly become the most talked-about DLC in the game’s history. Realistically, I’d be shocked if they don't lean heavily into the SEGA back catalogue, but a man can dream about a DC/Ranger crossover! SEGA should add voiced for all of the DLC characters. What do you guys think? Does this roster seem plausible, or are there other IPs you’re dying to see hit the track? 11. Hey everyone, just saw the news that Takashi Iizuka is pushing for every past Sonic title to be playable on modern hardware. Honestly, if they’re going to do this, I really hope they don't just dump raw ports on us. I’d love to see them treat these like full "Definitive Editions." If they bring back titles like Adventure, 06, or the Storybook games, I really want to see them re-recorded with the current modern voice cast. Hearing the modern versions of these characters would make the whole franchise feel cohesive for the first time. Plus, imagine Secret Rings or Black Knight with actual modern controller support instead of the old Wii motion gimmicks? Which game do you think needs the biggest overhaul to be playable today? I’m convinced 06 needs a ground-up remake just to make the physics work, but Unleashed could be a masterpiece with just a few performance tweaks. What do you guys think? Are we finally getting a "Sonic Legacy" collection?
  12. Hi everyone, I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on how high heels are utilized in movies, comics, and television shows. Beyond just aesthetics, do you find that specific footwear choices enhance character design, influence how a character is perceived, or impact the overall "vibe" of a scene? Does anyone like or love women or girl’s high heels? Are there any iconic characters—in comics or on-screen—where you feel their footwear (specifically heels) was a perfect design choice, or conversely, where it felt out of place? Looking forward to your respectful insights and opinions!
  13. Hey everyone, With the massive news dropping today from The Information that Microsoft has internally discussed restructuring Xbox as a wholly owned subsidiary (kind of like LinkedIn) to potentially pave the way for an outside partner or an outright sale, my mind is completely blown. I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out: What if SEGA bought Xbox? Think about how incredibly poetic that would be. Back in the early 2000s, the original Xbox was basically the spiritual successor to the Dreamcast, and we know from those old FTC court documents that Phil Spencer literally tried to buy SEGA a few years ago. How wild would it be if the tables turned and SEGA’s parent company swooped in to save the hardware brand? Imagine a modern console line completely integrated with SEGA’s legacy, Atlus RPGs, and the massive catalog Xbox just acquired. Obviously, SEGA probably doesn't have $150+ billion just lying around to buy out the entire brand, but a guy can dream. Imagine turning on the next console and hearing "SEEEEEEE-GAAAAAA" at the boot-up screen. What do you guys think? If Microsoft actually sells, who do you think is realistically buying them?
  14. Dear Amanda Kay Oaks, I am writing to you regarding the recent news about Sonic Team’s recruitment for new mainline projects. As a passionate follower of the franchise, the prospect of new creative input—specifically the mention of expanding narratives—is incredibly exciting. With the team looking for new inspirations, I have been developing concepts for original characters designed to feel fresh rather than derivative of the existing cast. The goal is to introduce dynamics that challenge the current formula while maintaining the series' high-energy spirit. Key concepts include: Spark (The New Hedgehog): A character centered on lightning-based abilities, inspired by the growth and intensity of Teen Gohan. The goal is to provide a distinct, high-stakes personality that differs from Sonic’s classic cocky attitude. Kayla (The Sidekick): To ensure a fresh visual identity, her design draws from classic, distinct archetypes. Rather than echoing current Sonic character tropes, her aesthetic blends a strong, capable combatant silhouette (inspired by Chun-Li) with a polished, 90s-inspired athletic look. This moves away from the standard "tomboy" or "damsel" archetypes often seen in franchise sidekicks. The Robotnik Family Addition: A new antagonist who balances genuine menace with dark comedy. By focusing on a "sinister-comedic" personality, this character adds depth to the Eggman bloodline without merely acting as a clone of Dr. Eggman. As someone who tracks these industry developments, I would love your thoughts: When Sonic Team looks for "fresh" characters, what specific narrative or gameplay gaps do you think they are most interested in filling to ensure these new recruits don't feel like copies of existing favorites? Spark: The "Flow-State" Combatant Instead of focusing solely on momentum like Sonic, Spark’s lightning abilities could focus on precision and redirection. Ability: Static Dash: Unlike Sonic’s boost, Spark leaves "conduction points" on walls or enemies. He can instantly zip to these points, allowing for complex, z-axis platforming that feels like teleporting rather than running. Ability: Overcharge: A combat mechanic where Spark builds up static energy by performing trick combos. Once full, he doesn't just go faster; he slows down time in a small radius, allowing him to navigate traps or hazards that are too fast for Sonic to handle. Kayla: The Tactical Specialist Since her design is inspired by combat-focused archetypes like Chun-Li, her abilities should emphasize impact and environment control. Ability: Momentum Pivot: Instead of raw speed, Kayla uses her strength to vault off enemies and objects. She could have a "grapple-kick" move that allows her to grab onto terrain or opponents and use them as a pivot point to launch herself in new directions. Ability: Kinetic Shielding: Her 90s-athletic gear could be outfitted with tech that converts damage into a brief kinetic pulse. This would make her a "tankier" character who rewards players for getting into the heat of a fight rather than avoiding it. The New Robotnik Family Member: The "Architect" To keep the Robotnik family vibe without being just another "Eggman in a different suit," this character’s gameplay could focus on field manipulation. Ability: Trap Deployment: Rather than flying in a ship, this character could use a hovering platform to "program" the level layout. They could force the player to dodge changing stage hazards, turning platforming sections into a high-stakes puzzle. What is the primary "gimmick" or unique gameplay ability you envision for these characters that would differentiate them from Sonic’s established speed-based mechanics? English Voice TalentJohnny Yong Bosch (Spark): Known for his ability to play high-energy, driven protagonists (e.g., Ichigo in Bleach, Nero in Devil May Cry). His experience with "lightning-fast" combat roles makes him an excellent fit for a character like Spark. Erica Lindbeck (Kayla): A versatile powerhouse. She is well-versed in the Sonic franchise (having voiced Blaze the Cat) and has a knack for portraying confident, assertive characters, which perfectly complements your Chun-Li inspiration. Patrick Seitz (Robotnik Family Member): A master of the "sinister-comedic" archetype. His deep, resonant voice and experience with iconic villains (e.g., Dio in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) make him the ideal choice for a character that needs to be threatening but also entertaining. Wikipedia Japanese Voice TalentMiyu Irino (Spark): Known for voicing iconic "hero" figures like Sora in Kingdom Hearts. He excels at capturing a character's growth, which aligns perfectly with your Teen Gohan inspiration. Haruka Tomatsu (Kayla): A high-profile actress known for playing strong female leads (Asuna in Sword Art Online). Her ability to switch between intense combat roles and softer, character-driven moments makes her a great choice for Kayla. Akio Otsuka (Robotnik Family Member): A legendary voice actor with a rich, authoritative, and deeply expressive range. He is frequently cast in roles that require gravitas and menace (e.g., Solid Snake in Metal Gear, All For One in My Hero Academia), ensuring this new antagonist feels like a legitimate, formidable threat. Strategic Note on "Freshness"When presenting these casting choices to a creative team, it is beneficial to frame them by performance style. Since your characters have specific inspirations (Gohan, Chun-Li, etc.), explicitly mentioning that you want to capture the dynamic range of these actors—rather than just their past roles—reinforces that you are looking for a unique performance that stands on its own. Do you have a specific "audition script" or a key line of dialogue for these characters that would help demonstrate how they sound different from the existing cast? Thank you for your time and for the excellent coverage of the gaming industry. I’ll be respectful, minded, concise and polite this time. Best regards, Comicbookfan101 Source: https://www.sonicstadium.org/articles/sega/sega-is-massively-scaling-up-sonic-team-and-theyre-hiring-for-everything-r3475/
  15. The Lightning Hedgehog ("Kaito" - Placeholder Name)The Gimmick (Kinetic Charge): Instead of just shooting lightning, his gimmick would be "Overload." As he moves at high speeds, he builds up an electrical charge. When he reaches "Mach" speeds, he can discharge this energy to dash instantly between objects or create a localized EMP field that disables robot turrets, allowing him to maintain flow without stopping to fight. World Integration: He comes from a "Future Zone" where the environment is purely mechanical. He doesn't use the Chaos Emeralds for raw power but acts as a "Living Battery"—he can track the energy signatures of the Emeralds across dimensions. Visual Language: To avoid the "Teen Gohan" look, his silhouette needs to be jagged. Think of spikes that flow backward like a lightning bolt in motion. His fur shouldn't just be static; it should have subtle, crackling particles or a neon-blue glow that intensifies the faster he moves. 2. The Sister/Sidekick ("Luna" - Placeholder Name)The Gimmick (Momentum Tether): She wouldn't just wall-climb; she would use a "Grapple-Dash." She carries a specialized gadget (an heirloom from a previous civilization) that allows her to tether onto moving debris or enemies. Her gameplay is all about "swinging" through levels at high speed, turning the environment into a series of slingshots. World Integration: She is the "Archivist" of their world. While Sonic is about the present and future, she is the one who understands the ancient lore of the Chaos Emeralds. She views the Emeralds as ancient technology that needs to be "calibrated" rather than just collected. Visual Language: To solve the "Chun-Li/Lola" issue, strip away the human-inspired clothing. Give her a streamlined, athletic jumpsuit that matches the high-tech aesthetic of the Sonic world. Focus her silhouette on long, flowing ears or gear that creates a "trail" effect behind her when she swings, ensuring she looks like a blur of motion in a 2.5D or 3D space. 3. The Robotnik Relative ("Dr. Vane" - Placeholder Name)The Gimmick (Tactical Chaos): Unlike Eggman’s brute force (giant mechs), Vane uses "Probability Manipulation." He places traps that change the level layout in real-time. He is a "puzzle" boss who makes the level harder the longer you take. World Integration: He is a rogue scientist who split from the Eggman Empire. He wants to use the Chaos Emeralds to "rewrite" history, making him a villain who is a genuine threat to Eggman as well as Sonic. Visual Language: The "Beard/Glasses" trope is great, but give him a distinct shape. If Eggman is a circle/egg, make Vane a triangle. A sharp, angular, tall, and thin design makes him look more calculating and "sinister" compared to Eggman’s round, jovial appearance.
  16. Hello Sonic fans. Sega is hiring new recruits for Sonic Team, the new mainline Sonic game and new Sonic projects. It says the Scenario writer would turn fanfic to canon. Some fanfics would be: The new hedgehog who would be Teen Gohan inspired with lightning powers. Would be voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch In English and Miyu Irino in Japanese. New hedgehog's sister/sidekick would be inspired by Jessica Rabbit/Chun-li inspired with her outfit would by inspired by Lola Bunny's in the 90s. Would be voiced by Erica Lindbeck In English and Haruka Tomatsu in Japanese. New Robotnik family member with a beard, and black glasses, sinister and comedic. Would be voiced by Patrick Seitz In English and Akio Otsuka in Japanese I'll be respectful minded, concise and polite about this.
