Well, if you are still around, you have probably seen the episode, or just don't care about spoilers. What did you think of the series' premiere? I'm curious to see how everyone felt about it. On my part, as I said in my review, it feels more like the second movie than the first, and IMO that's not a good thing.

The scene with the fingers coming out of the bathtub drain was so much more interesting as both a scare and a story beat than the kid being tormented by a crazy family and the mom giving birth to a demon baby.

It's easy to tell when the Muschiettis are trying too hard, and they waffle between that and at least SOME subtlety in this first episode, but the hamfisted moments really made me roll my eyes (the incessant turtle references for instance)

Agreed. I actually appreciated the subtle creepy bits more than the outright crazy gore parts. I'm not really sure what to make of this thing so far but it did enough to make me glad I have a new Sunday night show to watch.

First episode wasn't scary at all and the demon baby was laughable. The kids aren't very likable and acting is mediocre at best. What a terrible first episode.

That's exactly the issue I have with the second movie... By going bigger on CGI and spectacle, it morphed from scary to unintentionally funny... The show is much better in the quieter moments.
