Alex Garland+epic fantasy is very tantalizing to me, but I've not played the games (though I don't think this is an "adaptation" as such), so for those who have, I'm looking for a gauge of excitement and how well this stuff could translate to the big screen?

I haven't played the game, but the lore around it is really compelling. Also, to me there is nothing that's unfilmable or that won't translate to the big or small screen. It's just a matter of the right team to make it happen. We've seen too many supposedly undoable stories brought to the theater for that to hold up anymore.

It's going to be a real test of "can a proper fan make a good video game movie" because by all accounts Alex Garland willed this into existence based on his own fandom
