June 1Jun 1 CB Team Between new movies, TV shows, and projects like The Hunt for Gollum, it seems like Hollywood isn't done with Middle-earth anytime soon. There is still a lot of material from Tolkien's writings that could be adapted, including entire stories and ages of Middle-earth that have never been explored on screen.Do you think they should keep making Middle-earth movies and TV series, or is there a point where it's better to leave Tolkien's world alone? If they do continue, what story or character would you most like to see adapted?
June 1Jun 1 CB Team I'd rather they didn't. There are now more bad or middling LOTR movie/TV releases than there are great ones, and nothing that convinces me that's going to change anytime soon (especially without the rights to The Silmarillion, meaning they're going to keep being more contained in what they're doing/telling). Would certainly love to be proved wrong by The Hunt for Gollum or Shadow of the Past, though

I worry the movies will just keep getting worse, but I'm like you, I hope they prove me wrong.

I think The Hobbit could've been very good if they... hadn't tried to make it like Lord of the Rings. The upcoming movies feel like too blatant an attempt to simply use the IP and recapture nostalgia for the original trilogy rather than stories that are worth telling now, but we'll see. Also I gave up on The Rings of Power after one season, so can't speak to how that's worked out but the general response doesn't seem great
June 2Jun 2 CB Team The Hobbit would have been great if they made just one movie and marketed it as "Return to Middle-earth one last time!" There are some great moments in those movies. Riddles in the dark. Bilbo meeting Smaug. But the trilogy as a whole is so meh.The original LOTR trilogy is one of my favorite film series ever but I am not excited for these spinoffs they're working on. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see them being all that great.
June 2Jun 2 CB Team I feel like it's always going to get a bit of a draw, which, as we know, is why Hollywood always goes back to the well, but this feels over to me, just let it end!

I think it should have been like the books, 3 Lord of the Rings movies and 1 Hobbit movie.

I would settle for just reading the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit yearly and not have more movies.
