Tobey's Spider-Man vs. the X-Men in Doomsday?

One of the crazier Avengers: Doomsday rumors I've seen is that the opening could have Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and possibly some of his villains fighting the X-Men.

I have no idea if any of this is actually true, but it would be really cool to see. Tobey's Spider-Man sharing the screen with the X-Men, especially clashing with them, is something I never thought we'd get. I almost don't even want to think about which of our favorite characters might not survive the next few movies.

I'm also really curious why they would be fighting in the first place. Maybe an incursion? What do you think? Would you want to see this happen?

I am so torn on this rumor, because of how that encounter supposedly ends. Tobey's Spider-Man was what got me into superheroes in the first place, and I cried buckets seeing him reprise the role in No Way Home. Do I want to see him do it again? Perhaps, but it has to be done right, not as a cheap gimmick.

Yeah. The great thing about No Way Home is that it was fan service done right. Tobey and Andrew were actual supporting characters in the third act who played a role in Tom Holland's story. The scene of Tom meeting the other two Spider-Men on the rooftop is why you brought Tobey and Andrew back. I don't want to see them drag Tobey back into this for something gimmicky ... especially if it ends the way the rumor says it will. That would be very upsetting for this '90s baby who grew up with Tobey's Spider-Man.
