Spider-Man Brand New Day should have...

Featured Replies

They should have full sent it with Man-Spider. I think they would have created something truly inventive and showcased something that not a lot of people (the general public) know about. They don't want Spider-Man to seem scary and that's fine and all but you've gotta take some chances and I think they missed that one.

Thoughts?

The scary excuse is so weird. Raimi did a Doctor Strange movie where Captain Britain is cut in half with a shield without losing the PG-13, It's all a matter of how you use it. I would have loved to see the Man-Spider. Maybe in the future. Now we know that MC Peter can power up with stress, and I'm sure his life won't get any easier.

I would've liked to see them go further with Man-Spider too. Even if they didn't want to make him outright terrifying, they could've pushed the transformation a lot more and made it feel like Peter was genuinely losing control of what he was becoming.

That would've given the movie a completely different kind of tension, especially since Spider-Man is usually the one character people aren't expecting to be afraid of.

I had to look that scene up because I had completely forgotten about it. I guess I wasn't paying much attention to the Multiverse of Madness when I watched it. Maybe it's time for a rewatch.

I think it's more they didn't want to go full body-horror. Plus it wouldn't have worked on a thematic level imo; Spidey needed to accept the two parts of himself, to bring them together. But if one of those parts is literally an inhuman monster, that becomes a much less empathetic choice!
