HOT TAKE: the older marvel movies including Blade are over run by nostalgia as a kid i loved them and even a few of the wolverine movies and 1 x men movie but as an adult going back watching them they are all about 85% god awful movies that remain overhyped by kids like me who grew up with them ...theyre not that good I cant even get through a whole tobey mcquire spider man anymore and they say hes the best ..its okay to like them but theyre far from the best marvel movies ..I never noticed as a kid in the incredible hulk (2008) hulks yell or roar is like a fucking t Rex or some shit off jurassic Park type of sound not a hulk roar like we imagine...even Blade fr i dont understand how it got so many sequels despite being very average for a movie overall

I agree with this TBH.

Additionally, I think a lot of the current movies get by for the same reason. Hell Doomsday is going to be a massive movie partly due to our nostalgia for RDJ.

And that's not just Marvel... A couple of years ago, I hyped my girlfriend up to watch the Burton-era Batman movies. They are not great. Visually amazing, but weak stories, weird dialogue, and overall incredibly overrated. My innocence was lost that day.

I've never seen any of the pre-Nolan Batman movies. Somehow just never got around to watching Batman '89.

Nostalgia definitely plays a part, but there are still some older ones I think hold up really well. I can still go back and enjoy the first two Raimi Spider-Man movies and Blade. The original Batman is a little out there, but I still watch it occasionally. I also miss how different superhero movies could feel when everything wasn't part of one massive connected universe.

This. The MCU has been a lot of fun, but I've been watching a lot of the pre-MCU movies this year, and I kinda miss when we could have Sam Raimi come in with his own take on Spider-Man, and he only had to worry about that one movie.

One of the best things about that trilogy is they feel like Sam Raimi movies that just happen to be about Spider-Man. As an adult, I appreciate the style and personality of those movies so much more than I did when I was a kid. Same thing with Nolan's Batman. I think of The Dark Knight as a Chris Nolan movie first. There's a reason those movies have stuck with me for so long.
