November 29, 2025Nov 29 CB Team With The Game Awards coming up in less than 2 weeks, I've been thinking about what my personal game of the year would be. A ton of great games came out in 2025 and the race for that official GOTY award is gonna be tough. But what wins your personal award for the best game you played in 2025? For me, I think it's probably Hades 2. But I also had a lot of fun with Tales of the Shire and Umamusume: Pretty Derby, so it's hard to choose!
November 30, 2025Nov 30 CB Team In terms of new releases, my pick would be either Ghost of Yotei or Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (I only game on PS5, so Indy was a new release for me this year). I really enjoyed both and am already looking forward to second playthroughs at some point. I'm a big fan of the Indy movies, so that game was a ton of fun. Scratched the Uncharted itch while still doing its own thing. And with Yotei it was a blast exploring the open world (one side quest in particular made me very happy). Also want to shout out Doom: The Dark Ages. Always fun to just run around and shoot monsters in the face.
December 1, 2025Dec 1 CB Team Hades 2 deserves the prize... But I spent a shameful amount of hours in Elden Ring: Nightreign. It's flawed in many aspects, but it's so addictive that it led me through too many half-slept nights.
December 1, 2025Dec 1 CB Team Might be a hot take, but I think 2025 has been pretty disappointing. Not a lot has resonated with me in the way that I hoped. The game I enjoyed the most was probably DOOM: The Dark Ages, although it definitely has its shortcomings. I hope 2026 is better.

There have been a lot of big games this year, but at the same time, a lot of the ones I was looking forward to the most either got delayed or didn't hit the way I wanted them to. I didn't get into Digimon Story: Time Stranger as much as I expected to, and Tales of the Shire was lovely but quite short.
