What comic got YOU hooked?

I was thinking about this tonight and honestly, I can’t pinpoint just one. I think my first real hook was an Iron Man comic where his suit was powered down and he had to fight a huge robot (I haven't located the exact issue), but it was probably the X-Men books that really pulled me into the hobby. I was really into Wolverine and Gambit back then.

Curious what it was for everyone here, what comic got you hooked on all this?

For me it was Amazing Spider-Man and Superman, as those were the two characters that I first followed in monthly comics. My love of X-Men would happen later, but those were the two characters that really captured my attention and kept me returning to the comic stand each and every month.

X-Men #1 (1991)

It was the first grown comic my parents let me buy, after years only letting me get TMNT TV series spinoff comics

Yep! That's the one! Such a great series! That and the animated series was the best.

I loved those two as well. I really got into Spider-Man a little later after my older cousin showed me some comics. I got into the Spider-Man 90s series pretty big.

Although Spider-man is my favorite character, think the one that got me hooked was SuperBoy issue #188. There was something about the cover alone that was drawing me. Later, I drew that cover so many times I had it down to muscle memory.

I've read comics off and on my whole life but I think the one that got me hooked as teen/not a kid was probably Marvels.

That's awesome! I wish comics were still 20 cents lol

Agreed! So many comic books shaped my life as a kid, but the one comic I have the earliest memory of owning, the one I always remember having a good time reading, and the one I still love to read today is: What if #3 (What if the Avengers had never been?)

Some of those What If books were fantastic!

One that I always remember is the What If...#65, which was the What If Archangel Fell From Grace?. Some of the Spider-Man-based stories were memorable too.

I am coming back to this because I talked to my dad today and he told me that the first comic he remembers seeing me with was an old Snow White comic that he has no idea where I got it from but when he did see me with it, he then procured some of his old ones for me. I have no memory of this but it clearly started something and I know those roads eventually led to Batman.
