Is Supergirl Going To Be The DCU's Guardians of the Galaxy?

You saw the trailer, you know the vibes. What are we doing here?

I'm not mad at the similar approach at all. And I know this will be more connected to the larger DCU than GotG was to the MCU. In Gunn and Gillespie, I trust - but how about you?

I was thinking the same thing when I watched it. Definitely has a similar vibe and I like it!

I think a lot of people are going to equate a fun superhero movie set in space to GOTG, and for good reason. But this does have some notable differences.

I think the teaser trailer is deliberately baiting Gunn critics/Snyder cultists by making the costuming and setting seem like a GOTG ripoff. This surface visual slight of hand seems to have worked, since buzz has exploded due to this mere teaser trailer. Anyone who's read the Woman Of Tomorrow mini-series knows that the story goes to a lot of dark and brutal places during its outer space journey.

Nothing like this year's Earth-bound Superman movie was. If there are some similarities to GOTG, it's probably because those films did pioneer a contemporary aesthetic that proved to be very commercislly successful. This ain't Kansas.
