While all attention is on Netflix, Warner Bros, and Paramount ... Sony gets the Peanuts

As a big Peanuts fan, I'm actually excited about this, mostly from the animation perspective. Sony Animation is great, and would love to see what they can do with Charlie Brown and company.

I actually am really neutral about this. As long as the Peanuts endure, I'm happy.

Sony has said they will be faithful to the history and brand. seems like as many Japanese grew up - are growing up with the Peanuts as Americans.

It's a pretty odd acquisition on their part since Sony isn't really known for big spending like this. Hopefully they handle it with respect like they say, but this is Sony we're talking about, they're pretty clueless.

My wife's family is friends with the Schultz, so this was odd to read when I saw it in the news.

I thought this could be bad but at the same token, I think it will help the Peanuts franchise live on and keep going.
Similar to Lucas giving up Star Wars although the Schultz will retain a small percentage.

I think it will bring out more stories and merchandise, which could be good, but Sony has to be smart about it unlike how Disney tried to do too much with the Star Wars sequels.
