Scream 7 - First Reactions?

Anyone else see the new sequel? As someone that didn't care for 5 or 6, I didn't hate it, but they've genuinly run out of gas in the tank on this franchise man.

It's almost sad how much they have to bend over to come up with a motive for the killers in this one.

I honestly went into it with extremely low expectations, so I was pleasantly surprised that it was better than I'd been anticipating. I generally enjoyed the first 2/3s of the film, but I hated the final act. That was by far the weakest killer reveal and motive in the franchise. The first 2/3s of the movie are pulling a ton of weight to keep the film from being a complete disaster.

It's genuinly hilarious that the big reveal of the new movie is "lady who read your book from three movies ago"

It just felt so random compared to all of the past movies, especially given the fact that the killers had so few scenes prior to the reveal.

Agree with all of this. Found it surprisingly front-loaded, but then meant things really sagged later on. Something I found in Scream VI that continues in this one is the lack of creativity, fun, and humor: in the Ghostface reveals (which were so predictable again), in the kills themselves (it's still going more brutal and gory than the best kills in the franchise were), in the (complete lack of) meta commentary. If I think about this too much I'll probably dislike it more, but I was solidly entertained, and I liked Tatum as a character (mostly due to Isabel May's performance)

I'm so far behind on the Scream series it's not even funny 😂I can't even remember the last one I saw, but I'm considering watching them all so I'll know what's going on with Scream 7.
