PROJECT HAIL MARY - What Did You Think?!

Who's headed out to see Project Hail Mary this weekend? Curious what everyone thinks given the tidal wave of hype around it .

Personally, I really enjoyed it. I previously listened to the excellent audiobook (highly recommend) so I was a little predisposed to liking it. About my only criticism is that they have to condense so much from the book that some of the flashbacks to Earth aren't as substantive as they are in the novel.

Grace Rocky made Chris cry.

I loved it. Gosling was fantastic. I was fully invested in the story. The visuals were great too. I wish I could have seen this in IMAX. Lord and Miller really stepped their game up (maybe they'd be a good fit for a Star Wars movie? 😉). It's my favorite movie of the year so far, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's still near the top by the end of the year. Though The Odyssey and Dune should have something to say about that.

I'm already dreading the Gosling/Rocky reunion at next year's Oscars for an awkward drawn out "comedy" bit before the winner for Best Production Design gets played off after 30 seconds.

I really liked it! I got pretty emotional at the pink lighting scene in particular, but it was a bit long. Didn't realize it was a full on space epic going in, and wish it got through some of the early half a bit quicker, but I still liked it quite a bit. Not a big fan of science fiction at all but I dug it.
