Your FAV Xmas Counterprogramming Movie - GO!

We all watch Home Alone, Die Hard, Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, Scrooged, Grinch, Rudolph, Frosty, etc. every year...

BUT We got into this debate on the ComicBook Nation Pod, given that Anaconda (2025) is very much looking to corner that counterprogramming crowd.

So: Are there movies that are the TOTAL OPPOSITE of Xmas spirit YOU watch every year?

Ex: ME? I do the Alien franchise in the days leading up to Xmas. Every year. That freaky world and those dark settings make me appreciate the lights and joy so much more.

Now YOU GO.

By some quirk, I realised a few years ago that I had watched Event Horizon on Christmas Eve two years in a row, and now I have made it an annual event. Usually while frankly wrapping presents I should have done weeks ago. Something about the agony of Hell as a real concept seems to match that well...

That seems like on the totally extreme opposite end of the spectrum LOL

On my end, I generally do catch up on streaming low rent action movies that I've missed through the year. Just watched Heads of State, for example. Just mindless non-Christmassy stuff

Usually horror movies, but then again, I'm watching those year-round anyway. There are a few from Shudder this year that I still haven't caught up with like GOOD BOY.

I'm also the type of person to watch horror movies around Christmas and really all year long. I'll probably be squeezing in a rewatch of Halloween (78) or maybe one of this year's releases that I haven't seen just yet.
