Should there be more horror film versions of classic kids stuff?

Featured Replies

As there are horror versions of Winnie the Pooh and Popeye out in the world, should there be more horror versions of other things, like perhaps classic children's stuff like Captain Planet or Candyland or anything else we all grew up with? I'm a huge horror fan, so I think it might be interesting to see what kind of ideas people can come up with that merges horror with innocent children's games, shows, and characters. What do you all think, and does anyone have any cool ideas of what might be an interesting scary movie?

I think this is something that presents an exciting opportunity for storytellers and genre fans, but the trouble with them is how often they stick to just the same ideas. It's one thing to do a horror movie take on a known kids property, it's another to just do "What if X was a slasher movie," which is the formula almost all of them have taken.

Horror Candyland seems like the right idea, that would have to be at least SOMETHING different. In fact, horror-takes on board games seems perfect see: Hungry Hungry Hippos and Operation.

Operation could be wicked! It would get demented pretty quick lol
