Are you hyped for Zach Cregger's Resident Evil?

We got a footage description out of CinemaCon, which sounds fantastic. And after Barbarian and Weapons, I'm there for whatever Cregger does. But I'm also not really a Resident Evil fan and haven't played any of the games since the first couple in the 1990s, so I'm curious what others think, especially big fans of the franchise since it's an original story/characters?

I still have to play Requiem, but I'm a fan of the franchise, and I think being an original story is the way to go. Adapting any game storyline is going to be a miss because there's only so much lore you can squeeze into two hours. I wish the original story still featured some main characters (like how Resident Evil: Revelations added a whole new story for Jillin between mainline titles). But Cregger's bought enough good faith that I trust he can do justice to the games with a new character.

I genuinely can't wait. Cregger has proven himself twice over already, and the bar is incredibly low for Resident Evil movies. Honestly, doing something original within the world feels like a great way for video game movies to go, though which franchises could pull that off is probably short.

That said, I think sometimes hardcore fans of RE get a little too precious about these games, which are objectively quite silly.
