June 25Jun 25 CB Team I saw the trailer for Taika Waititi's new movie Klara and the Sun came out this week. Is anyone looking forward to this?I know Taika's reputation has taken a bit of a hit in recent years, but I'm still a fan of What We Do in the Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and Jojo Rabbit. I want to believe he's capable of making another film like that. Klara and the Sun could be more of his "happy sad" stuff.Although, the fact this was shot in 2024 and is only coming out this year is a bit of a red flag. So we'll see.
June 25Jun 25 CB Team I think it looks ok. I haven't loved a Waititi movie in a decade, so am wary, especially reading all the comments about the tone being very different from the book, which is apparently super sad and moving, so hopefully that's just marketing and we do get more of the emotional stuff he did so well with Wilderpeople. Would certainly be nice to have that version of him back. I also really want to have Amy Adams in a great movie again, because she's been on a run of stinkers for years now and deserves far better

She needs to be in great stuff all the time so she can finally get her Oscar.
June 25Jun 25 CB Team This looks delightful! I wasn't aware this was even on the way, but I really enjoyed the trailer. This is the kind of vibe I really like from Taika, and already love Ortega in this role. Thanks for putting this on my radar!
June 26Jun 26 CB Team Having read the book this is based on, this movie looks waaaaaaay too happy and cheerful and superficial. The book is gut wrenching (and incredible) and I honestly do not know that there is a way to even slant it bright and happy for marketing without entirely missing the mark.
