I don’t know how much of a hot take this is to be honest, but I think Spider-Man: Homecoming is better than The Amazing Spider-Man because of how well it captures Peter’s high school life and how grounded it keeps him while coming into his own. It truly separates him from Iron Man, and does a lot more character work for Peter than TASM does, especially given TASM’s darker, grittier tones. Still love and think both movies are great, though.

Anyone else see the new Spielberg, and what'd you think? For me, it really worked. I liked the larger theme of empathy being the advanced emotion that the aliens recognized, which felt timely given the hellworld we live in.

Maybe it's just me, but June's Steam Next Fest lineup feels even more overwhelming than usual. There are a ton of games and it seems like Steam's event filters are a little bit broken. I still managed to find quite a few gems, including the Moonlight Peaks demo and the latest Vampire: The Masquerade visual novel prologue. But I'm curious... what is everyone else playing? There are a lot of interesting books hitting shelves this week. I'm definitely keeping an eye on Absolute Batman #21, Spider-Man: Long Way Home #1, Something Is Killing the Children #48, and Odin #2 from Image. There's also a new Hellboy in Love issue, Battle Beast, Nightwing, and plenty of Spider-Man and X-Men books for Marvel fans. What are you picking up this week? Look I get that shows are more expensive to make, but I'm getting tired of these 2/3 year gaps in between episodes. Like I just finished up Pluribus, and Vince Gilligan recently made a statement that he's in the middle of writing it and hopes to film next year? What? C'mon man, Breaking Bad was like 100 episodes a year and you cant get a move on? This new TV era is giving us great shows but at the cost of waiting so long in between them. Sometimes the wait gets to the point where it sours the show like with Stranger Things hahaha

I've been rewatching the Spider-Man movies with my kids, and it's made me appreciate some of the different suit designs all over again. The classic Tobey Maguire suit is still my favorite, but I had completely forgotten how unique Andrew Garfield's suit looked. Going back and seeing it again, I like it a lot more than I remembered. Spiderman with big lenses is better than small lenses and if he has glowing lenses it ruins the mask. Especially if the lenses aren't white, the suit is ruined.
