  1. I finally got around to watching Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, and what stood out to me most was how the movie is told in two parts. The first focuses on Victor, and then the story really opens up once we start seeing things from the Creature’s point of view. It felt less like a traditional monster movie and more like a back-and-forth between creator and creation. A lot of the weight comes from perspective, guilt, and consequences rather than big horror moments, which made it feel closer to the spirit of the original novel. Curious what everyone thought about that approach. How did you feel about the split perspective, and where would you rank this among other Frankenstein adaptations?
  2. A lot of modern reboots seem really focused on recreating how certain movies or franchises felt when we first saw them, especially ones from the ’80s and ’90s. Sometimes that nostalgia works, and other times it just doesn’t land the same way. Do you think that feeling is something studios can actually recreate, or was it more about where we were as fans and as a society at the time? Are there any reboots you think struck the right balance, or ones that clearly missed the mark for you?
  3. I think they should scrap any ideas that are similar to what they've already done and start fresh. I often wonder if the originals were just lightning in a bottle and came at the right time and maybe now they're just chasing that old feeling that they can never quite recapture.
  4. The originals always stuck with me, and I’ve spent way too much time thinking about what could get the series back on track over the years. I even worked on Terminator Genisys, which really highlighted how hard it is for the franchise to move past its own shadow and do something new. I don’t think it’s just about Arnold or Cameron. The first films were lightning in a bottle, and every sequel feels like it’s chasing that instead of evolving. Everyone talks about finally doing the future war properly, but even that only works if it’s treated as something new and grounded, not just a remix of what we’ve already seen. That’s why I like the idea of going further back in time, similar to what Prey did for Predator. It forces the franchise to rethink the formula instead of repeating it.
  5. I love the old trilogy, but I think the time for a 4th movie may have already passed. A 4th film would have been amazing at the time though. We still watch it and the movies still hold up.
  6. I agree, I would still watch it, but I think the time has passed for it. We still watch the original trilogy and the kids love it.
  7. We won't get snow either, but everything is icing over so I pulled out a huge stack of books from storage just in case.
  8. Sounds like a plan! I stacked up so many books to read that I've been putting off.
  9. I hope everyone has a warm place to stay and a generator just in case. I know it's supposed to get really cold.
  10. Best scenario: we keep power on and still get off of work and school : )
  11. I have a huge box of books to read that I've been putting off.
  12. I'll just spend $2 on Nick Fury and let him build the team 😁 But seriously, I would choose Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, and Nick Fury.
  13. I'm going old school... Mega Man! I thought it would be fun to show the kids how "good" I was and it was a disaster. I couldn't get anywhere and the kids questioned my gaming skills 😂
  14. Some characters feel like they change wildly depending on who’s writing them, and not always for the better. Is there a comic character you love (or want to love) that you feel is often miswritten, misunderstood, or handled inconsistently? What do you think writers tend to get wrong about them?
  15. Adding it to my reading list!
  16. I actually haven't read that run, but will check it out this week.
  17. I thought it was pretty good! I like the vibe : )
  18. GLOW was good! I wish they had continued it.
  19. Doctor Strange is pretty awesome! I love reading comics with him and Doctor Doom in it because I love the magic aspect of Marvel.
  20. Now I'm going to go rewatch the opening credits lol
  21. That one was so much fun in theaters! We laughed through the entire movie 😂
  22. There are plenty of big, well-known runs that get talked about all the time, but I’m curious about the ones that don’t come up as often. Is there a comic run you really enjoyed that you feel doesn’t get enough attention? Could be Marvel, DC, indie, short-lived, or even something that flew under the radar when it released.
  23. Oh, I think it looks awesome! I like the vibe they're going with.
  24. This is the best giveaway so far! Venom is such a cool character. I like the 90's comic version the best.
  25. I need to rewatch Thunderbolts. I watched it with my kids and they weren't really into it and made it hard to concentrate.
