I still play Destiny 2 most weeks, convince me to play something else!

Destiny has been my mindless grind game for the last decade. I’ve stepped away a couple times but the lead-in to The Final Shape hooked me - big time. And then The Final Shape delivered a killer end to the 10 years of time I spent in the world.

But… everything since has been underwhelming and while I enjoyed the story in Edge of Fate, nothing about the expansion feels rewarding - and the grind is awful.

I’ve got Donkey Kong Bananza and other games in the queue but I need a new game for mindless pre-bedtime play.

Convince me what my next new obsession should be.

Marvel Rivals is kind of that for me, though WWE SuperCard, Magic The Gathering Arena, or Root are also go-tos for me in that regard.

I dabbled with Destiny right at the beginning (we're talking beta) but kind of fell off and then never went back.

My son is big into Marvel Rivals now, which is good since the college he is looking at offers it as part of its esports program. Sadly, high school doesn't allow any esports games with guns, and Rivals has Punisher, Rocket, and Star-Lord (they tried to ban Splatoon since it involves a paint gun, but reversed the decision). He is now competing in Pokémon Unite in esports, since the Super Smash team was too competitive for him to make the team initially.

For me, I've been mostly a sports game guy for years. Madden, College Football, Baseball, WWE 2K. I got WWE 2K and College Football for my birthday, so I've been playing those lately.

My son does get me involved in LEGO games when they come out and we can play them together, so we are looking forward to the upcoming Batman game.

When I want a mindless grind, I always come back to Skyrim or something cozy like Story of Seasons. I was thrilled when Oblivion Remastered came along this year because it's a similar feeling to Skyrim, but with a new (to me) story.

These days though, I'm playing mobile games when I want to unwind at the end of a long day. Checking in on my team in Pokemon Sleep and running another career mode in Umamsume: Pretty Derby are good, mindless fun.
