January 21Jan 21 CB Team Ubisoft just canceled a ton of different games, including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. It says it's reinvesting this money in its open-world games and live-service projects. Will any of this work? Or is Ubisoft basically on life support?
January 21Jan 21 CB Team Ubisoft seems like they are really trying to streamline their projects, which makes some sense, though it is odd to see them pivoting towards live-service projects as Sony pivots away from that after seeing it fall flat on its face. Bummed that the Sands of Time remake was canned, but it seems to have been troubled for a while now.
January 22Jan 22 CB Team I think investing in live-service games is a bad move in this climate. People can only really keep up with one or two of these at a time, and the market is oversaturated as it is. And "open-world" isn't really a sell anymore in and of itself, so they'll need to actually make those games compelling if they want to maintain any kind of audience. I'm not feeling optimistic about any of this, to be honest.

I played Rayman Legends for the first time last year and that was a lot of fun.I second what Amanda's saying. I don't understand a big live-service push. It didn't work for PlayStation and I don't think it'll work now. I was really bummed out about PlayStation's pivot to live-service. I only play single player games, and we could have gotten great new games from Naughty Dog, Bend, Bluepoint, etc. if they just stayed in that lane. Same thing's happening with Ubisoft now.
January 22Jan 22 CB Team Any word on the Splinter Cell remake? That's really the only thing in their pipeline that I remotely have interest in
