Are YouTuber movies the future?

Haven't had a chance to see it myself, but Iron Lung is getting a lot of attention. Apparently the YouTuber behind it took his millions of followers (totally different world out there) to campaign for a theatrical release and it actually made some money. Is this the new model for the future? Are people going to take things into their own hands independently when all of the studios turn into a conglomerate that avoids theaters?

It made a LOT of money already. Also, it's not unprecedented, given how Talk to Me was a horror hit made by YouTubers.

I love Talk to Me and didn't know it was YouTubers that made it. I've seen it twice already.

It's an amazing movie! Their second movie, Bring Her Back, is also great. Not as good as Talk to Me, imo, but still worth checking out. The director duo started out as YouTubers in Australia.

Bring Her Back was brutal and took a while to understand what was going on or maybe I was just tired lol, but it was still pretty good.

I absolutely adore Talk to Me. So many great moments, but the musical scene where the camera spins while everyone takes their turn using the cursed hand lives rent-free in my head.

The kid chewing the knife must be the most disturbing thing I ever seen in a horror movie.

I haven’t seen it either but now you have sparked my interest I plan on seeing it this Friday I have a better comment once I do.

But I hope you’re wrong about not having the theaters ! I love going to the theater!

Nothing like it ! The sound the big picture!

Brings it all to life! You Tube is just a precursor for me ! It has its place but it will never replace the theatre for me !

Wait for my review this Friday with out giving anything away I promise! I won’t spoil it for anybody !

I'm not sure it's YouTuber movies specifically, but I think it's moreso that indie film is on its way to having a proper resurgence.

Hear, hear! I agree with you. The YouTubers are just people who know a lot about editing and pacing, and are applying their experience to a different medium. In the end, what makes good movies is passion, and indie creators have a lot of that (and a lot less executive interference).

Yeah Talk to Me doesn't quite count, this is a YouTuber who made a movie and pushed it out themselves. Same energy, but got backing after the festival circuit. Kind of a different beast than what Iron Lung is doing specifically

Is Iron Lung worth watching? I've been reading about it and it sounds interesting.

hollywood is dead inside. youtubers are differently dead inside with fearful compliance to google inanities

now imagine an IRL manifestation of the google ads system abusing you in a theater chair
