Who is Sadie Sink playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

I really want her to be Jean Grey but it’s not looking super promising that’s who she is, and that’s such a generational casting bag fumble it makes me sad. Who do you think she’s actually playing?

I... think she's Jean Grey, ha. The trailer actually convinced me more. The tease of the powers fits, the story setup of being hunted by Damage Control lines up with establishing them as an anti-mutant force, and given they're turning Sink's character into such a mystery box, the best payoff to that is Jean Grey (and similarly, if she's in Secret Wars as reported, that makes the most sense too). There is, admittedly, an element of just seeing what I want to see there and a bit of confirmation bias, but at this point I think any other reveal would disappoint fans quite a lot

Yeah, the Jean Grey scuttlebutt is looking more and more likely, and this trailer contributed more to it than the December leak. I think they're trying to hide her, too, just to keep it under wraps, even though they know it's out there.

I feel like if she was playing someone else, any kind of other villain, they would just say it. That's circumstantial evidence, but when it comes to movies like this, it has some weight.

I think Jean Grey, but I would love an MCU version of the Queen. It fits the mind control themes, it's connected to Spider-Man lore, and she gave Peter organic webs in the comics. Also, the Queen is the product of a failed experiment to make a superweapon, which resonates well with the Damage Control arc they are building. Make her less villainous in the MCU and voila! It would be a perfect fit!

The Jean Grey thing is such a wild move that I don't really want it to be the case. It'd be such a weird way to introduce such a key X-Men character within a Sony Spider-Man movie (especially as Marvel prepares to reboot their universe once more with Doomsday and the older X-Men cast), so I hope she's like Firestar, Typhoid Mary or something.

I'd liked the idea of Firestar, but... the powers in the trailer don't match

This is not what Lucas wanted. He kept to his vision and produced 6 highly successful blockbusters. It's really annoying that Disney and various authors try to leech off Star Wars by writing horror or whatever to plug their own ideas. Ideas that, at their core, have nothing to do with real Star Wars.
