June 9Jun 9 CB Team A new trailer for Pinocchio: Unstrung just dropped (you can check it out here) and it has me thinking about the horror-ification of beloved childhood favorites and it makes me wonder, is this something we really need? I'm not necessarily opposed to it, but at the same time it just feels... edgy for the purpose of being edge to me, like a weird cash grab. Thoughts?

June 10Jun 10 CB Team I haven't watched any of them so can't fairly judge (they might be fun, but somehow I don't think so), but "edgy for the purpose of being edge" is how I feel about them, too.
June 10Jun 10 CB Team I tend to avoid horror in general, so I'm not interested in these kind of remakes. If they have an interesting idea that feels natural, sure. But I agree, some of them do feel like they're just playing with the IP because they can.
June 10Jun 10 CB Team I've seen all of these, and while most of them are dreck, you can see the potential in some. I think if someone thought about what kind of story they were telling with a horror redo of these it could really work, but for the most part these are on par with your '80s video store made for VHS movies

June 10Jun 10 CB Team Honestly, I haven't watched any of them and don't plan to, but I never thought we needed them. I feel it's just a way to mess with the IPs in ways people hadn't really imagined until now. I think a lot of it is just for shock value. However, I haven't seen any so I guess I can't really judge.
