June 16Jun 16 CB Team So it sounds like Shang-Chi 2 is still in development . But my question is, will we really get it or is it taking too long and we should just give up hope?
June 16Jun 16 Who cares about Shang Chi, the movie was an utter failure at the cinema and was even banned in China cause that's where Disney was hoping to get the majority of its money from and even they didn't want that slop in their theatres
June 16Jun 16 CB Team I'll never understand Marvel's approach at that point; launching so many new characters and then doing nothing with them for years! Shang-Chi was absolutely excellent imo and great fun, so I'd love to see more of that story.

That is far from "utter failure."Additionally, the film wasn't banned in China but it was heavily restricted -- and not because of the movie but because of comments the lead actor had made in previous interviews about his family's experience fleeing both communist rule and harsh living conditions in China. The government doesn't take kindly to that sort of thing and has more than once "heavily restricted" a film because of comments they deem to be critical.
June 16Jun 16 CB Team It would be great if they did release it, but I'm not going to hold my breath. It's been a while.
June 17Jun 17 I'd love to see Shang-Chi 2. The first one totally surprised me in terms of its scale, I'd love to see what they'd do a second time around.
June 17Jun 17 I still have hope. First movie did decent business, character is going to be part of Doomsday/Secret Wars, and Marvel is obviously very high (rightly so) on Destin Daniel Cretton, would be an easy movie to make for Phase 7
June 17Jun 17 CB Team I'd love to see it. I had a lot of fun with the first Shang-Chi and really enjoyed Simu Liu in the role. Seemed like he was being set up for bigger and better things and then he just vanished until Doomsday. If Shang-Chi came out in the Infinity Saga era, we'd have a Shang-Chi trilogy by now.
June 17Jun 17 CB Team It seemed like a good idea when Phase 4 was trying to be a thing! But less is more is probably the way to go. Less solo adventures and more of the multiple heroes crossing paths in one film much like we're getting in Spider-Man: Brand New Way. That seems to be the best way forward to get as many of these actors back to action in terms of just pure logistics rather than waiting for yet another solo sequel for a film that might not get any returns.
