Supergirl Hype Check

Supergirl comes out this week. How's everyone feeling?

I'm excited to see it. Going back to when the first trailer was released I always thought it looked like a fun time. And the Krypto stuff is giving it some emotional weight too.

I was more excited before I saw Spencer's review. Rude of him tbh. (I'm still looking forward to it, think it looks fun, and, yes, Krypto, which is the most important part.)

Yeah. The Rotten Tomatoes score dampened my spirits a bit, but I still think I'll have a fun time.

I'm curious, I may go check it out on discount Tuesday next week at neighborhood Regal in Screen X, probably will do a double feature with Masters of the Universe as well.

I've only seen one non-spoiler review, which I found honest and interesting. But yes I'm curious, overhall.

I'm still excited for it even with the reviews. I honestly sort of expected the reviews and as I mentioned on social media today, the criticisms of the movie, to me, sound like the movie is a pretty close to literal adaptation of the comic. And, frankly, I think the comic is mid at best and people somehow convinced themselves it was great. If Supergirl is nothing more than a good adaptation of mid comic, I'm happy.

What I am not happy about is that it seems to be the same old song and dance of a certain pocket of dudes big annoyed that the girls get a superhero movie so they're trying to be hateful in the discourse. That I am not excited about. I'm tired.

Really excited for it, and will be seeing it tomorrow night!

As for the backlash, I saw this same thing when Captain Marvel came out, and it was obnoxious and irrelevant then as well. I loved that movie, and I'm hoping Supergirl is great as well.

Also, I already got my Supergirl and Krypto Pop!

I saw the Variety review that was like "this has the worst script I can remember" when I'm sure there have been far worse superhero movie scripts the past handful of years.

As I told someone today "The Men are Menning again."
