Which DC Superhero Has the Most Iconic Costume?

Featured Replies

One thing that has always attracted me to DC superhero characters is their distinctive costumes. From Batman's cape, Superman's suit, Wonder Woman's armor to Mr. Terrific's modern-style costume, every costume gives you some idea about the character wearing it.

Out of all the DC superheroes, which one has the best costume design? Do you like the classic designs used in comics or the more modern ones seen in movies and TV shows?

Classic Supergirl. I love her boots.

That's a great choice. The classic Supergirl costume has a timeless look, and the boots are definitely one of the details that make it so recognizable. Do you prefer her classic comic design overall, or one of the newer versions from the movies or TV shows?

I do like Absolute Superman's cape, but I think I'll always go with Batman.

Batman is always a solid pick. I can definitely see why you'd go with him. I liked Absolute Superman's cape too. Just out of curiosity, what did you think of Superman's blue jacket? I thought it was a nice change and suited the newer version of the character pretty well.

I've only read up to issue #6 on Absolute Superman so I'm not sure that he's gotten the blue jacket yet. I have all the issues so I'll try to catch up and see.

Ah, got it. You're actually further along than I am then! I won't say too much in case of spoilers, but I'd be interested to hear what you think once you catch up. It's always fun seeing how different artists and writers handle Superman's look over time.

I really like the Dark Knight comic costume. All wrinkly after battle.

And, hell yes, Swamp Thing! He can change into cilantro(off putting) if he wants!

Little corn Swamp Thing is one of my favorites

Got a Swamp Thing tattoo today : r/comicbooks

It has been nice to see everyone’s favorite designs. What I love about DC comics is that each hero has a distinctive style of their own. Batman's cape and cowl, Superman's suit, Wonder Woman's armor, Supergirl's boots, and Mr. Terrific's modern look are all instantly recognizable. Another cool thing is how these outfits have gone beyond cosplay and become part of everyday fashion for many fans. If anyone is interested in comic-inspired jackets, they can be found here. I'd also love to know which superhero outfit you'd actually wear in real life.

Superman. His suit has so many versions like other heroes but regardless one always knows its him, even people who don't like superheros would probably recognize him

I agree, Superman is probably one of the best examples of a costume being instantly recognizable no matter how much the design changes. Even small changes to the colors or style still make it obvious who the character is. I also really like some of the modern takes on his look, especially the Superman Blue Leather Jacket, which gives the classic character a more casual and contemporary feel.

Ever since I saw Godspeed in the tv show The Flash on the CW, it has been my favorite costume. Reverse Flash comes in a good 2nd. Between the tv show, comics, and even animation. They've all been good. Ive loved the villians costumes over the superheros

It's difficult not to go with Superman here. Batman is the most popular DC character, but Superman and Wonder Woman to me more represent the heart of DC Comics, and regardless of what era you're from or your exposure to comics, the moment you see a picture of Superman's costume, you know exactly who it is.
