We just got an update on the development of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra - which made it clear the game is still coming but is a ways off (2027 at the earliest). https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/marvel-1943-rise-of-hydra-release-date-update-is-good-bad-news-for-fans/ But has the game missed its window? Thanks to a listing on the WGA website, it seems Paradise Lost has hit a major production milestone, with the writers of Handmaid's Tale (and The 100 and superhero show Alphas) and a Bridgerton writer and executive producer hired. More here on that. If it lives up to James Gunn's billing as the DCU's answer to Game of Thrones, it'll be good (but too many shows have been presented as the new pretender to Game Of Thrones, and Westeros already has two expansions). I still can't help but wonder what's happening with the Wonder Woman movie that was said to be "being written" back in 2025 though...

My topic title here is a little weird, so let me explain: Amazon cancelled the Stargate reboot reportedly because they didn't feel like it would appeal to new fans. Obviously you want new fan appeal. However, the point of rebooting what I consider to be legacy sci-fi (like coming up with something new in Star Wars or Star Trek or even this Stargate thing) is to also appeal to existing fans. This got me to thinking about whether it is actually POSSIBLE to do a reboot correctly or in a way that works both for the business side of things and the fan/creative side of things. The Vampire Lestat (aka season 3 of Interview With the Vampire) debuts tonight on AMC. Who is watching? I am definitely tuning in and I'm excited to see what they do with the story. I have my concerns and reservations -- I notably think AMC is making a great show overall but also don't think that it's a good adaptation of Rice's novels -- but I also just can't wait to FINALLY see Rockstar Lestat.
