Are you excited for The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum?
Echo all of this, very low expectations. I guess if I have to look for something positive it's that I think Serkis will bring it again as Gollum (one of the better parts of the first Hobbit movie), but even that I can't get too excited about because I don't think it's a super interesting story, and Serkis' track record as a director is bad.

What Is The Best Movie Sequel You've Ever Seen?
The Empire Strikes Back is my favourite movie of all time, so another mention for that. But that, and some others I'd put in here (The Two Towers, Aliens, The Godfather II, Before Sunset, any Toy Story sequel) were also all following on from an amazing first movie. In terms of taking something from "good" to "HOLY FUCKING SHIT THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS EVER" it's T2, The Dark Knight, or Paddington 2

What's your favorite movie trailer?
Yes! The music and editing in this:

What's your favorite movie trailer?
Yeah, I considered this one too, perfect teaser

What's your favorite movie trailer?
Also gotta give a shout out to The Social Network, which is the gold standard (Fincher movies in general tend to have great trailers - Girl With The Dragon Tattoo's was superb as well):

What's your favorite movie trailer?
For me, it's The Force Awakens' second teaser trailer - the "Chewie, we're home." This was the moment that it truly felt like Star Wars was BACK, I watched it on repeat so many times, talked about it non-stop, it still gets me. What's yours?

Thoughts on Lanterns Trailer?
I liked it 🤷♂️ Delivered the True Detective vibes they always promised, liked the dynamic between Hal and John, the show doesn't release until August so it makes sense to me we don't really see powers (and then opening dialogue sets that up - "don't get hung up on the jewellery"), and I'll always be happy to see Kyle Chandler doing Kyle Chandler things (clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose).

What's next for Star Trek?
I'm not much of a Trek guy, but I did enjoy the Kelvin Timeline movies, so I'm hoping the Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley movie actually happens and, while it'll be a different cast, can bring the franchise back to being entertaining blockbusters. Some of their movies (Game Night, D&D: Honor Among Thieves) are pretty great, so I'd definitely be down for that.

Scream 7 - First Reactions?
Agree with all of this. Found it surprisingly front-loaded, but then meant things really sagged later on. Something I found in Scream VI that continues in this one is the lack of creativity, fun, and humor: in the Ghostface reveals (which were so predictable again), in the kills themselves (it's still going more brutal and gory than the best kills in the franchise were), in the (complete lack of) meta commentary. If I think about this too much I'll probably dislike it more, but I was solidly entertained, and I liked Tatum as a character (mostly due to Isabel May's performance)

What movies are you most excited to see this March?
Definitely Project Hail Mary. I haven't read the book (but have had it sitting on the shelf for a long time, so that counts, right?), but loved The Martian (book and movie), love Lord and Miller, love Gosling, and the trailers are great.

Danhausen is in WWE, and Everything Is Right With The World
Not super familiar with him, but it got a big pop from me when he came out. The gimmick, the music, the dancers with him? All great. That said, I can understand why the crowd wasn't into it whatsoever, given the month-long buildup of who was in the crate (but that just made it funnier to me).

Netflix and WBD is No More, Welcome to Paramount WBD
As I understand it (which could very well be wrong), the original, unsolicited Paramount bid essentially forced their hand - meant they then had to act in the best interests of the shareholders, which was basically to put up the for sale sign and get the best offer possible. Of course, quite likely it would've reached this point eventually anyway since it long seems like it might've been the intent of the WBD merger (this article has some good background info on that stuff, WB's debt, etc https://prospect.org/2025/12/10/why-is-warner-bros-for-sale-at-all/) TLDR: Rich people want more money, capitalism gonna capitalism

Netflix and WBD is No More, Welcome to Paramount WBD
Yep!! Any concerns over the Netflix takeover pale in significance to this and Paramount owning CNN to go with CBS

Which Gaming TV Show Are You Most Excited For?
I'm not much of a gamer, but I'm definitely looking forward to the Tomb Raider show with Sophie Turner. Interested to see how Netflix's Assassin's Creed turns out as well - I was a big fan of ACII, and it's a really cool concept/setting(s), so hopefully it can avoid disaster

Do you think Dune: Part 3 and Avengers: Doomsday both stick to their December 18 release dates?
Agreed, don't see it changing right now. Marvel certainly can't - they've already gone hard into marketing with four teasers, the movie has been delayed a lot already, and they need a show of strength. Dune 3 is maybe a tiny bit more plausible, especially with some uncertainty around WB, but it's still not easy to see - the end of the year has a lot of big releases, so it would require quite of bit of shuffling: they've got Digger and Clayface in October, which is probably the earliest the movie could be ready for, The Great Beyond in mid-November, and then Thanksgiving is already busy with Hunger Games/Narnia (which takes up the IMAX slots, so that's a no go anyway). So it'd mean pushing one of those, or moving Dune 3 back into 2027, neither of which seems like something they'd want to do. I'm reasonably optimistic about both movies' chances, tbh. I don't see Doomsday hitting the heights of Infinity War and Endgame anyway, but it'll still be the year's highest-grossing movie. Dune 3 doesn't need to be a billion-dollar movie, if it repeats Part 2's haul it's doing well. Both should have strong holiday legs, Dune 3 gets the PLF boost while Doomsday has the bigger general audience pull, they'll inevitably put a slight dent in each other but I think both will be fine, and we win as moviegoers.

What did you think of the new Mortal Kombat II trailer?
I have no attachment to the games, and thought the first movie was a solidly entertaining action flick. This looks better and cooler, already a big fan of Karl Urban's Johnny Cage

Which X-Men are you most excited to see reinvented for the MCU?
Wolverine aside, probably Cyclops and Rogue, both of whom I think there's a lot more to do with than the Fox movies managed (though Doomsday is seemingly at least addressing the former already, to some degree)

What did you think of the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 finale?
FWIW, I thought the finale was pretty great. Like most of Thrones' finales, it was more wrap-up and epilogue style than anything bombastic, but it nailed most of the major character beats - everything between Dunk and Maekar, in particular, was superb. The only thing I disliked was the very ending with Maekar's "where the fuck is he?" line - I thought the idea of him letting Egg go with Dunk, after that "last son" speech, was really powerful and poignant, and this completely undercut the emotion for humour (needlessly so, as it's not in the book). The humour is one of the iffier things of the entire season (some good, some bad), but on the whole I absolutely loved this, am so glad it'll be back for S2 next year, and would gladly watch another dozen or so seasons of Dunk and Egg

What did you think of the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 finale?
With the season now over, what were your thoughts on the finale, and the season as a whole? Things you liked, criticisms, hopes for S2, and so on.

Are you looking forward to Scream 7?
Yeah, trailers are good and I always enjoy this franchise. Still wish we were getting another movie with Sam and Tara, especially after the ending to Scream VI, and it's shit how it got to this point, but the movie itself looks like good Scream fun

What’s your favorite movie poster?
Three-way tie between these, but I'd pick BTTF if forced to choose just one (with honourable mentions to Jaws, Alien, Scream, The Rocketeer, and almost all Star Wars posters)

What do you think of The Mandalorian & Grogu trailer?
Agreed, certainly looks a bit more cinematic and worthy of the big screen, whereas the first trailer was very much "streaming quality." Shots like the one of the astromech, Grogu meditating etc were nice, there's some actual colour, and I'm a sucker for the riff on that Apocalypse Now imagery: it worked for TFA, and it works here.

Thoughts on the House of the Dragon Season 3 trailer?
Another of today's big trailers was for House of the Dragon Season 3: http://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/house-of-the-dragon-season-3-trailer-promises-the-epic-targaryen-war-weve-been-waiting-for/ Season 2 was a bit more divisive (though I mostly liked it), and it's been very refreshing watching A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, but... fuck yeah this looks great.
