James Hunt

http://comicbook.com/movies/news/clayface-movie-trailer-dcs-first-horror-reveals-batman-villain-transformation-the-dcus-gotham-city/ I think this looks great - super gnarly, freaky, body horror stuff, and the more comic book movies explore other genres and do things differently, the better imo. What do you think?

Although I'm looking forward to it, there's a lot of skepticism and negativity around the movie, with it not looking like enough of an event and just being more of the TV show. Would you prefer this was simply a Disney+ continuation instead of a film?

We got a pretty sizable update on the movie https://comicbook.com/movies/news/upcoming-movie-based-on-10-10-fantasy-masterpiece-gets-a-release-date-exciting-cast-update/ - so can it actually work? Alex Garland+epic fantasy is very tantalizing to me, but I've not played the games (though I don't think this is an "adaptation" as such), so for those who have, I'm looking for a gauge of excitement and how well this stuff could translate to the big screen?

Mando and Grogu makes the most sense I guess, but none of the above would surprise me. I also think people just need to chill out. Yes, CinemaCon has created this demand, but the movie is still eight months away. We've had four teasers. At this point, we'd seen nothing from Infinity War or Endgame.

Nay. I saw it a couple of times in theaters when it released, I own it on Blu-ray, I have Disney+... I'm not paying for it again! Also just not really a fan of them adding scenes to the movie that wrapped up their Infinity Saga in order to set up a movie that was never planned when it was made. You know what else could've created a bridge to Doomsday? The fucking 14 movies and 18 TV shows you've released in "The Multiverse Saga"

Yeah, it's a weird one. Even back in 2022, they were talking about Kingdom launching a new trilogy. And then like you say, the 2027 release stuff was mentioned in 2024 and... nothing since? Wes Ball has been busy with Zelda, so maybe that's the main reason, but the total silence is still odd for what should be a viable franchise for them (Kingdom wasn't a huge hit, but they seemed happy enough with its performance).

There's one of those two movies that everyone is talking about, and it ain't the Star Wars one. So while I agree in the theory, it... didn't work!

Yeah, it's easy to be cynical about it all but I also thought it was a great trailer, looks like a big fun adventure with a lot of heart, I'm here for it and more importantly for Grogu. Not sure it'll do enough to shift the conversation, but it looks good!

They're the two most anticipated movies of the year for a lot of people (myself included), both have increased hype after some epic-sounding CinemaCon footage, Nolan and Villeneuve are the two event-level filmmakers right now... but which one are you MORE excited for, and which one do you think will be bigger in terms of box office?

I thought it hit all the right notes - the Dr. Cox stuff in this and the previous episode has been great, Janitor's return was exactly what you'd want, and I look forward to more with J.D. and Rachel Bilson's character (assuming it gets renewed, since that seems likely). What did you think?

There's a time jump of a few years so story-wise you could probably follow it well enough, but you'd miss out on a lot in terms of character arcs/dynamics. Also, from the first episode and the reviews I've seen, S3 is definitely a step-down from the first two seasons (I think the high school setting suited it more).

Yeah, gotta be The Day of the Doctor, it absolutely nailed it. Was such a joy seeing Tennant and Smith's Doctors together

I cannot wait for this movie. Iñárritu's return is exciting, but more so is Cruise finally doing something that isn't just him being an action star. As great as he is at that, it'll be awesome to see him taking on a different kind of role, hopefully getting back to the kind of stuff he was doing with Magnolia etc, and putting him back in Oscars contention. Anyone else hyped for this?

I'll be there in IMAX day 1 regardless, but I'm not super excited by the story. It's an understandable choice given that it's Targaryens+dragons to draw people in, but Aegon's Conquest is kinda boring on the page since it's mostly just him winning quite easily. Beau Willimon writing it gives me some more hope, though.

Agree with the above comments. The most exciting descriptions are for the things I was already hyped for anyway - e.g. Resident Evil, Dune 3 - but they have added to my excitement

I think Dornan is a good actor and will probably be a fine Aragorn, but he's also set up for failure because a lot of fans won't accept it, given how iconic the original movies and Mortensen's performance are. I think the bigger issues with the movie will be its story than its cast, but it is also weird to have Aragorn be recast but several other actors coming back, that's gonna be jarring

Curious as to what you think about this? (Wasn't what I expected, but I enjoyed it)

New episodes of Maul, Euphoria, Daredevil, The Boys, and The Testaments, big TV week 😅 Have also been rewatching Derry Girls, because I always like to have something (mostly) light and familiar on the go.

To name a couple that haven't been mentioned yet, Jackass 5 (I love those idiots so much, and 4 was brilliant) and Narnia: The Magician's Nephew (Gerwig is one of my absolute favorite directors)

It's A Wonderful Life, Casablanca, or Citizen Kane

As the title suggests, what are your four faves that were the director's debut? Mine would be: Greta Gerwig - Lady Bird Orson Welles - Citizen Kane Quentin Tarantino - Reservoir Dogs Ari Aster - Hereditary (really struggled between a few options for this last spot)

We're now four episodes in, and I'm really liking it so far. Obviously, the animation is gorgeous, but the dynamic between Maul and Devon is starting to get really interesting (particularly liked this at the end of Episode 3 with his lightsaber), and I really like the noir-tinged detective stuff with Lawson, too. What do you think?

There's (thankfully) room for both, but which one are you more excited for?

We got a footage description out of CinemaCon, which sounds fantastic. And after Barbarian and Weapons, I'm there for whatever Cregger does. But I'm also not really a Resident Evil fan and haven't played any of the games since the first couple in the 1990s, so I'm curious what others think, especially big fans of the franchise since it's an original story/characters?

Jaws is tough to beat. I'd also put Raiders, Jurassic Park, and Independence Day up there in terms of what I think of as the perfect archetypal summer blockbuster and the movies that come to mind hearing the term. Sadly, though, didn't get to see any of them in theaters, so I'm going to have to give it to The Dark Knight. Might've also said Mad Max: Fury Road, but I'm not sure it busted enough blocks to truly count. From this decade: Barbie or Top Gun: Maverick.
