  1. Good! It's the right approach that mixes fidelity to the source material with logical addition/expansion that'll help make it feel fresh
  2. As a kid: Quite simple, just endlessly rewatching the original trilogy on VHS and playing with a huge box of figures/toys for hours on end is like core childhood. As an adult: The exact moment of silent anticipation between "a long time ago..." and the opening crawl for The Force Awakens at midnight, which is probably the most hyped I've ever been in a movie theater, or getting to go to Star Wars Celebration in 2023 (awesome of the announcements, none of which have been paid off!) and 2025 (awesome for Tokyo and Ryan Gosling).
  3. I didn't love Moon Knight but did really like Oscar Isaac's performance, so would probably rather a Midnight Sons team-up at this point, especially as Marco mentions above, it's the best chance of seeing some of those other characters too
  4. There's a lot to criticise Marvel for, both in terms of movie quality and its impact on the current Hollywood landscape, but I don't think this one is entirely fair. It's had its issues with bad guys, but it has strove to make a lot of them interesting and nuanced - Loki, Thanos, Killmonger, Winter Soldier, Gorr, Zemo, Xu Wenwu, Vulture, etc, I think there's enough there that's not just entirely black and white but where it at least aimed for compelling motivations, and likewise I don't think that many of its heroes are just plainly good without any sort of complexity to them
  5. I mean, that's not exactly a high bar! But I agree, at least on the James Mangold version, that genuinely could've been great. The Josh Trank version, on the other hand...

I'm ok with a longer wait if that's what it takes to get more of Dr. Cox (which seems to be happening). Thought the stuff with him and J.D. was the best part of the revival. Also agree with Ben's point that it hopefully shouldn't take as long now that it's up and running, and there's a pretty clear direction for the story
  7. Yeah, would've loved to see that. I think the franchise has done a good job in recent years of exploring some similar ideas and stories to what Underworld had planned, but would've been so cool to see Lucas' full vision, and particularly mind-blowing to have had a live-action Star Wars show back then
  8. Yeah, that's much more on the showrunners and quality of the writing. But... it doesn't make sense as a way to appeal to old viewers, and if you're aiming for new viewers, I'm not sure they'd know the difference even if you did keep the mythology.
  9. https://comicbook.com/movies/news/resident-evil-trailer-reveals-zach-creggers-terrifying-video-game-adaptation/ I was excited anyway because of Cregger, but this is a very good teaser
  10. I don't really get why you'd fully "reboot" DW at this point when it continuously soft-reboots all the time anyway. Canon is obviously a very loose concept in the franchise, but I don't really see why it can't just continue on with a new Doctor, keep the things it wants, and ignore any parts it doesn't want to address, like... every other time there's a new Doctor.
  11. Maybe it's all some kind of crazy marketing ploy to make people talk about what's happening with it, rather than how much they dislike it. Seriously though, idk, it is super weird. If it was one isolated thing, like the upload going private you could sort of write off as correcting a mistake from someone who'd pushed it live too soon or something, screw-ups happen with these things, but with the context of it being removed before that it's really odd
  12. I really liked the One-Shot format, and still think it moved the characters and plot along enough in both. You've got the brewing stuff with Deep/Noir that I assume is building to a payoff, Soldier Boy choosing Homelander, confirmation of Sage turning against him, Butcher finally seeing reason with the virus/V-1, Homelander going full God and killing a member of the Seven, and some other things, all very significant endgame moves, so I don't really get the idea that this was some standalone separate thing where it's wasting time and nothing happened. I thought Firecracker was going to die when it started giving her more of an arc and showed her inner-conflict over her pastor/church and Homelander, and it made sense for his character. I'm also kinda fine with that abrupt sendoff because she's not been a part of the show for that long, she only joined in Season 4! And she's still a villain! It's not like they did that to Annie or Kimiko. I feel like the series has done way worse. Cameos were great. Show is fun. 🤷‍♂️
  13. Already got my tickets booked for The Devil Wears Prada and just rewatched the first, can't wait! Also increasingly hyped for Mando & Grogu, too. And hope to get to see Finding Emily, which looks like a great rom-com (though I don't think it's out in the U.S. until August). TV side, would have to echo Punisher and Spider-Noir. TLDR: What Matt said
  14. At this point it's basically just a WWE subscription for me (as well as Raw, we get SmackDown, NXT, and all the PLEs via it in the UK). I've not used it for much else recently, so I agree it's no longer good value for money
  15. Second to every scene Lucky the Pizza Dog is in, but otherwise agree with this! (Also, bring back Lucky!)
  16. There have been so many releasing recently (Daredevil, The Boys, Invincible), but what are your all time faves? There's a lot, but for me HBO's Watchmen, The Penguin (yes not a superhero but still counting it), and Daredevil Season 3 are the peak of the genre. Also got a lot of love for Arrow Season 2, The Flash Season 1, and Jessica Jones Season 1, but none of them sustained that quality across their entire runs
  17. There are a lot of characters we know are in Doomsday, but which ones that are still missing from the movie do you most want to see? I really want to see more of Kate Bishop and Kamala Khan, and also hope Scarlet Witch eventually returns
  18. There have been a lot: https://comicbook.com/movies/list/every-canceled-star-wars-movie-tv-show-we-wish-had-happened/ For me, it'd be Rian Johnson's, at least one movie if not a full trilogy. Would LOVE to see what he does with a clean slate and where he'd take things
  19. James Hunt replied to SirGleen's topic in TV
Both great, but the vision/flashback sequence in Episode 8 was particularly amazing
  20. Not watched a lot of movies this month, but I really enjoyed The Drama
  21. Currently (and belatedly) making my way through The Pitt Season 1 and I'm addicted, it's amazing
  22. Inspired by this list http://comicbook.com/movies/list/7-best-movie-prequels-that-actually-improved-the-originals/ Obviously, The Godfather II is the GOAT on the movie side, and I think Better Call Saul is in terms of TV (and think it ended up both improving how you see Breaking Bad, while also surpassing it somewhere around S5/6). I've got a lot of love for Temple of Doom, despite its flaws, though you wouldn't necessarily even know it's a prequel watching it. What's your favourite?
  23. This has been a point of contention for years, and is again thanks to Maul - Shadow Lord revealing another two survivors. Are there too many? If you just go off the numbers, not at all imo. There were 10,000 Jedi, and we know of ~50 survivors in canon, so approximately 0.5%. Even if there are a couple of hundred alive, it still makes sense, given how many there were and how spread out they were through the galaxy. So there aren't too many in that regard. The "problem" is that it keeps on using it as a narrative/character device in so many releases, which has dulled its impact and made it feel like a bigger deal than it actually is. But I also think the stuff with Devon in Maul so far is very well done, so hard to complain if the stories are fresh and interesting like this one is.
  24. Yes and no... I wouldn't mind seeing where the Qimir/Plagueis stuff goes, would like more Star Wars shows that explore eras that aren't within the same 30 year period and handful of characters that everything else exists in, and definitely wish it didn't always feel like Disney caves in to the most toxic parts of the Star Wars fandom. But I also cannot say that I thought The Acolyte was good, and I might not have even finished it if not for work, so I don't really miss it 🤷‍♂️
  25. Still got lots of ongoing weekly shows (Maul, Euphoria, Daredevil, Boys, Testaments), but I've also started a Mandalorian rewatch ahead of the movie, and best of all have finally started watching The Pitt, which I am immediately addicted to, it's worthy of the hype
